  • Just a few things to add:

    1) I asked for feedback on if people thought the build was stable earlier in this thread - all the feedback I got was positive (so it's more helpful to get your thoughts in sooner rather than later)

    2) I had a brief review of the bug tracker to help me decide if the build was stable and there was nothing serious on it - so if you find problems submit them as bugs

    3) You don't have to use this build if you are still experiencing problems - feel free to go back to 0.98.9 (since any wise person using beta software will keep backups!)

  • Oh god , transitions don't work.

this is actually a terrible build

    File where they don't work?

  • I am rarely, if at all, using the features that you guys are reporting as broken. From my perspective, 0.99.42 appears stable enough. See, everyone among us uses Construct differently, most of us barely touch features you use extensively, so our experience is going to be different.

Notice that mostly reported issues get fixed. Ergo, if you want a stable build, report issues you encounter, they will get fixed eventually. Don't just count on someone else doing it for you.

  • This build is pretty stable, I agree, but there's one thing that's desperately in need of a hotfix. The collision bug still stands, and I'm making a cap right now to prove it. Collision accuracy is one of the most important features in construct, and having a bug this bad is enough to make me hope that this build is going to get hotfixed sooner than later.

You may have to relaunch the runtime multiple times for the bug to appear.

Happens on resized sprites, not on 1:1 rate size'd sprites.

Quit whining it's stable for a beta release.

The 3d box is not a major function. It is an experiment that lived, end of story.

Look at it this way, would you rather have a complete 3dbox with limited functionality, or sprite mesh that can replicate, and even surpass it?

It may not be a major function, but the 3D box has spawned a lot of creativity from users on this community.

The sprite mesh has little chance of replicating or surpassing the 3D box (being 2.5D in nature)

Plus, I'm not sure what good Z positioning for a sprite is seeing as it can be easily faked with events.

That being said, I am fairly pleased with this build.

I'll check later to see if my latest project works in 0.99.42

Lets put it this way. It makes 3d box obsolete. We just need better tools for working with mesh's.

Any way its not just setting the z position of a sprite, its setting z position of a sprites verticies.

    Check this for an example:

  • Why make a mesh with so much work and a single stretched texture for its faces when you can just use the 3D box with a different high quality texture for each face?

Enhance the 3D box, it's a lot easier to work with it.

Why? Maybe its because the devs were thinking outside of the box, and want to stay away from the cookie cutter mentality.

And you're sure of this how?

  • I can't run a project if it has even one Sprite object on it. Happened in 99.4 too.

I even tried a silly fix of copying the functional Sprite plugins from 99.3, but same error.

This bug is already on the tracker.

I wasn't saying "why the devs made it?", I was saying "why the one that's making the game have to do so much work on a sprite mesh with low quality results instead of using a very simple, high quality 3D box?"

Since Construct is made for rapid application development and also for beginners and not for very slow and confusing application development for experts, I think the 3D box is a better beginning for doing 3D things and should be enhanced. Sprite mesh is not simple to use, and also no high quality work can be done with it, it can be done only by losing hours of work and that's a thing for advanced users or, otherwise, for people who have TIME to lose just for making 1 thing in its game that can be done in a simplier way.
