What could they possibly need to announce that isn't a release?

I think they are going to publish news about the engine, features or something, nothing of a launch until after at least a year.

But, why? It's been this long without news, what besides an actual release could be so important to share?

I enquired to the help email because I no longer have access to the email I registered for my licence (how can I upgrade using a different email address etc). The reply told me to wait until 1 Feb when an announcement will be made. I'm expecting a blog and possibly some sort of early access release. However, I am not sure if I will learn how to upgrade using a different email address...

Gamemaker has it's upsides because of it's native support... But remember, GM2 has many bloatwares that is it's own downside.

— spark engine has not a bigger team behind it. i think only Aris the programmer is in charge with the engine (like Ashley) the other two are for marketing and ui design. and spark engine's site is down for 2 weeks now. Imho release date of spark will take for sure 1+ years more.
