Can you smell the air? Take a sniff… There’s love in the air!
• Hi Guys,

Here is a game my friend Jeff and I have been working on called Battlespace Commander for the latest Win8 app competition.

Basically it's an old school endless top down shooting game much in the same style as asteroids and time-pilot. The difference is that you are in command of a huge battlecruiser, and your powerups increase the number & types of turrets on your ship. The idea was to capture the massive ship to ship combat from star trek or battlestar galactica.

The game can be controlled via touch or mouse. Left click or touch will control the direction in which the ship travels. Right click, or a 2-finger touch will activate a temporary boost.

Anyway, we would love to get feedback from you guys about the pros and cons of the game!

• 1. The artwork is the best I've seen so far around here, kudos!

2. Loads quite slowly, but I assume that's just the awesomeness of point 1 that's coming through.

3. The controls are uncoventional on pc: pretty easy to understand, hard to actually master.

4. The difficulty ramps up massively, try and balance it out a bit.

5. Despite the overall aweome graphics, change the orb that's fired every x seconds to something a bit less clich.

Overall awesome game, looking forward to future releaes!

• Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

• Cool game. Love the artwork. I agree with Peralta, the orb needs to be changes. Overall really cool!

• Many thanks Peralta, makotto for your excellent feedback!

The graphics come from a Kickstarter project called Indie Games Builder from Roenicia games as well as some stuff I pinched from the Space Shooter demo that comes with C2 (including the main photon torpedo, which I'll look for an alternative for)

• Game would nice on PC and on the tablets.

It's looks like starcraft or thms.

Game need menu pannel in the bottom of screen (as in starcraft) with a little screen which play short GIFs animations (crew, turrets, robots, damages... to example)

Of course it must have the storyline.

And I can't wait to play on it)

• Thanks Kurz! I like the idea of a SC2 interface, esp if we get different types of ships in (something I have in mind if we get enough downloads).

You can actually play this on a tablet - I've been using my surface pro as a test device (it has crappy performance hence the low FX option )

• Game looks really nice, I'll be giving it a try!

Good luck with the competition, and I hope you get many, many downloads :)

• Thanks for the encouragement Blacksmith!

• You need nanorepair packs dropping from the great ones and turning the excitement ON. Doesn't forget I wanna fell rewarded!

• breackzin - that's a cool idea. A mini health from the biggest motherships would actually work well - thanks!

• Wanna it even better, EyeHawk?

In my space multiplayer game there is a triangle were you set how much you use of your limited resources on mobility, shield, firepower. Changing the position of a circle on the triangle you can go faster but your shield becomes weaker and also your firepower... in a matter your because even disable firepower and mobility to get the best of your shields in a enemy burst. It takes that moment where the huge rockets are coming and the commander yells "EVERYTHING TO THE SHIELDS"!

Of course, it works better in a world that inertia prevails, but it surely gonna put your game on the radar.

• breackzin - funnily enough that was in my original design to have resource management. I really, really, really wanted to be able to allocate power to shields in different directions much like Starfleet Command or Bridge Commander (old but cool Star Trek games), but thought I'd limit the scope otherwise I'd never finish

Definitely something I want to put in for phase 2 though!

• never knew about these games.

• breackzin - check them out they were awesome games but quite old now:

Apart from resource allocation, you could beam in shock troops to attack components of the enemy's ships, send out attack shuttles and all sorts of cool things!

Actually there is also another neat indie game called Faster Than Light which revolves all around resource and crew allocation.

• Yay, the game is out on the store - give us some votes please! :)
