  • Smart Watches are not actually a new thing, but after seeing a few videos with Samsung Galaxy Gear and it's specs I realized that they are fully capable of running games (limited by screen size).

Galaxy Gear running Angry Birds, Into the Dead, GTA 3 and GTA Vice City

Is this possibly the start of a new market ? A market for SmartWatch games. What do you think ?

  • Doesn't it just mirror the phone or something? In that case, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

  • I guess it will definitely work, even though i'm not a Fan of them.

To me it's too expensive geek rubbish!^^

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Smart Watches receive notifications from the phone, they don't mirror it. But Samsung Galaxy Gear is actually a standalone Android device (Cortex-A9 800 MHz CPU, 512MB RAM, Mali-400 GPU). And probably there will be more to come, this is just the start ...

Well... yes, but somebody had to break the ice ... Remember that the first Android smartphones were kind of expensive <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Why not?

It would be better you develop games are using accelerometer instead of touch.

  • Time to start working on some Game and Watch clones!

Huh. Didn't know that. I thought it was completely dependent on the phone.

    Hahaha <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I guess now it is just waiting to be a common product, before someone comes up with a game control scheme that makes sense to the smart watch.

  • If this utube doesn't make you wretch, then by all means start planning for a creepy future. http://youtu.be/U8jsDWV8YpQ

  • would be nice if the watch app could extend the main a.pp running on the phone

like having an extra mini interface, or using the watch as a controle item such as a joystick (gravity moves anyone?).

Im assuming its connected by means of bluetooth, any chance Scirra implementing bluetooth communication too :D ?

Itll be a matter of time and these watches will go for like a small 100$ too, it just needs a year or two of mass production.

A creepy future with extra cheezy!

Using the watch as a motion control for games would be cool, but I think it might only happen when phones can plug into our TV. Haha swinging our hands around while watching a 4 to 5 inch screen is sure to result in a few phones suddenly flying around.

Phones can already plug into tvs hahahaha

Also, just imagine smart TVs :D with a watch remote controller, that would be kick ass.

  • The thought of playing a game on that thing...

Anyone over sixteen who wants or owns one needs rewiring...

Haha I guess it is time to upgrade my phone <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

It would agree with you now pixel perfick, but who knows what genius method they will come up with next. Haha I still remember when snake was the best game on the phone. Would never have imagined the quality of games we can play in our hp now. If they can use the watch mainly as a motion controller, I think there will be great potential.
