Casino? money? who knows? but the target is the same!
  • Hi,

I've recently started using Construct 2 and for now I wanted to test it before buying it but sadly I came across some troubles trying to test it. I always get the message and I cannot get to test my game.

I already spent a couple of hours searching for answers on google and here but didn't find something that could help me.

So if anyone could help me or at least point me in the right direction it would be really appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Cheers

  • what was the message you are getting/ problem you are having?

  • On Firefox I keep getting localhost:50000.

I tried Explorer and Chrome with no luck.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • localhost:50000 would be the default address it tries to use to host your app so you can preview it. I would definitely take a look here to see if this helps you at all:

    Testing and Publishing

    Preview on a local network

    Continuous Preview

  • Thanks for the replies guys. I tried the solutions given but still no luck. I tried using Explorer, Chrome and Firefox and even changing the settings in the options but nothing is working so far. Seems like the more viable fix would be done with the paid version but for now I'm simply testing my options between Construct 2, Game Salad and Stencyl. It's kind of a bummer because so far the one I like the most is Construct 2.

  • What exactly is happening? What does the error say?

Do you get a loading screen? Do you see a black page and gray frame?

Do you see a white page with nothing on it?

Does your game have sound? If so, can you hear it?

What does it do on other browsers?

What version of browser are you running?

Are your video card drivers up to date?

Do you even have Java installed? If so what version?

    What OS are you on?

COME ON MAN, give us some info!!

  • Windows 7 x64

Firefox last update, Google Chrome last update,

    Explorer 9

In Firefox stays on a white page, on chrome and explorer indicates it cannot find the host.

I have Java installed and it's updated as well.

So far, I tried Stencyl as well and it worked fine on my browser.

My video card drivers are as well updated.

  • You might have the port blocked by something which could prevent your server from listening on port 50000.

The netstat tool might be able to tell you if this is the case. Then you can use the PID of whatever process is blocking the port to forcibly end the process.

    support.microsoft.com/kb/281336

I'm not sure if Windows firewall is capable of blocking anything on localhost, but that might be worth a peek as well.

Forget about video drivers or HTML5 trouble. From what the browser is saying it's clearly a networkish problem.

Tekniko: I was under the impression that C2 ran entirely on HTML5 and javascript without having to use JRE at all.
