  • miketolsa at the moment no, there is no youtube tutorials as you'd expect , not yet, this topic is for tricks and tips, as in why should you use some effects, parameters, renders, and tips as how to make them, but we also the posters still learn them, in our free time. there was an official announcement upon release of 2.4 that next will come the manual and a few more tutorials, but we have to wait since the developers, are between exams and have their own life in first line then comes this plugin as a hobby mostly

    hahaha same here lol ! funny way to put it, as for the game, if you keep adding at it , or maybe check this hints here, to cut off some events, and add more features but i think youl have to recode everything if you'd follow my tips from the specific topic!

    keep at it eventually will be better game!

  • i wold cut off the events, by not using global variables but a sprite hidden outside the screen making it global so it persists on all layouts, and add instances variables to him that will act as global variables, like the normal ones, not use groups, try limit my self to what i need and not overreact with features, use of family's also helps cut off events where you wold had to duplicate them, the sub events adding them as conditions, and that will help me make a 100 events that actually is made in 300 events

    but then, hunting for scirra offers, store coupons and buy the license also can help you reach the most desired dream - make a competition game in 1000 events and use the same rule that i said above!

  • Hey guys, wanted to share with you my latest works, of the new engine im building, for a time management/gamedev story like game. you can find the initial state of the game engine bellow, its a raw shape so dont be to harsh on it, there a few little bugs, but not big ones, however im pretty satisfied with the progress in the current state, since i made it in like 10 minutes thanks to Construct2.

    see Demo(link soon give me 10 minutes) edit - might take a bit longer since i decided to add some extra features, so you can see the potential of the game!

    I want also to ask, or propose, a team request here, for graphic artists, those who want to join, when the game will be finished, i intend to publish it and submit it to the game jam 2015 that still accepts game submissions till July 15 that was brought to my attention by Festival Stras topic, there for you see why is important to have some sort of graphics to it, so its looking more professional then what i currently have.

    And hopefully someone is interested in joining the project! i intend to finish it in the next 2 days, at the rate im coding it, its going to be fast done, the only issue will be the graphics assets, which i dont know if you guys have already built something similar to this already or not, (presumably that you want to join the project), and if we could use it without paying other costs to it! any old dusty graphics can work, as long matches the rough simetrics, meaning bigger graphics and not 8 bit graphics that has like 6x6 tiles.

  • Ralph nah im using firefox... i think was the flashplayer plugin, now is all ok!

    i dont use chrome anymore, since every 2 months purely freezes and doesn't want to start instantly anymore, on this machine i have, its insane, and i have resources to run cryengine and other stuff pretty decent, but a browser stays 30 minutes to boot lol!

    actually says from 18 to 27 September at Shadok but im guessing that's the live meeting /presentation ! until then u have a lot of time for submission as its on that french page, however ... why is it in french ? is going to be held in France? is it only for France ? or world wide? is ambiguous ... cause says world wide submissions, and then limits the page only to French talking people! weird!

  • hints :

      [1] try using view range / or/ range port behavior/ you can also use turret behavior but that's a bit confusing [2] you can always make it in events, by comparing distance between enemy.x, enemy.y and other actors, when distance is less then 250 pixels the enemy starts following and starts shooting(and animates optional). if out of range, he walks back or stops movement, or idles, etc! its very easy to make in c2, im guessing if u have a small idea what u want to do, and how to use the behaviors above, u can make your AI in about 10 minutes
  • have you tried altering the infinite jump platformer example from C2? if not take a look at it how the infinite, background acts

    however infinite background im not sure if that is possible yet in C2, since you are not able to expand the canvas of the game while running the app! i wanted to ask about it so many times, but then i think that is a flash feature and not a html5, for the moment, however there might be a few capx around here

  • This looks really cool, can you apply a blurred depth of field effect to the 3d scene and use it as a background to a 2d construct 2 game?

    yes you can create your game in 2d with this plugin, and have a 3d background , however the infront or behind mode of the plugin is requesting a lot of resources and may crash on average spec computers!

    but then you can always make ur game in 3d with it:) just you'd need 3d models .obj files and the rest is going to act as in 2d construct2 just with an extra vertices

  • you can make the laser beam length not be greater then distance from original point of creation towards x y of the enemy, so if it hits the enemy its going to stop to its center position as length, if enemy will come towards you or go away the laser will grow bigger or shrink!

    wep x,y is the original point of the laser from the weapon i guess if u have any!

    set width distance(wep.x,wep.y,enemy.x,enemy.y) see if that helps

    if u have enemys and solids in one familly you can switch enemy.x,y to familly name .x ,y
