  • I've only tested IAPs on iOS TestFlight so far and not on Google Play, but just wondering whether you're giving the IAP "on purchase success" when "on product owned" or "on transaction finished" might work better?

You are correct. My project is old, and it was set up to make the item available immediately upon purchase, instead of making it available only upon the 'conclusion of the transaction.' I believe that this 'Upon completing the transaction' option is more recent than my project.

  • Hello! I noticed that Google offers regional payment methods and some of them can take a while to be approved, or depend on an external action from the user to complete the payment and in these cases, the game gives the digital item right away without the payment being done. If the payment depends on external action from the user, they won’t complete the payment because they already got the digital item. I would like to know if this is a bug of Construct 3 or if there is a way to get around this situation, making sure that the item bought is only available when the payment is actually done.

I just tried again, and it's still working fine for me. It's been several weeks now and it's been working fine for everyone else. I'm afraid I simply cannot explain what is happening but it sounds like an issue your end. The Internet is extremely complicated and there are lots of non-obvious ways it can fail that will only affect certain users, ISPs or regions. If that is indeed the case, which I think it is, there's no use constantly complaining to us, as it's impossible for us to do anything about it. Did you try contacting your ISP? Have they responded?

    Ashley

As I've told you many times (and you haven't read it yet), I've tested it with 3 different ISPs.

If the problem is regional, this should be informed at the time of purchase:

"Construct 3 does not work in your country."

I did a lot of testing today and it worked a few times when I tested it on Chrome on mobile, but it didn't work on Chrome on Windows.

It doesn't work on Firefox, Edge and Opera, nor on Windows, nor on Android. I tested it on incognito tabs.

I tried using VPN, simulating a connection from Europe and USA, but that didn't work.

I tried to export using 3 different devices.

Why am I able to upload my project completely to the server if my connection is supposedly broken?

Why does the error only happen during the build on the server?

Is the server up to date to build projects compatible with any browser and its updates?

Is there a possibility that the server loses connection with my project due to some incompatibility?

Does the server have any line of programming that makes it disconnect if it finds any inconsistencies?

Is there a possibility for Construct 3 to create projects in a different structure than expected by local settings, which causes the server to crash?

Could the server's ISP or server be rejecting connections from my region?

Could the server's ISP or server be rejecting Latin language projects that have special characters?

Could the server's ISP or server be rejecting projects running in a Latin language browser with special characters?

Could the server's ISP or server be rejecting projects submitted by browsers with custom updates for a specific region created by their developers?

Have you checked with the server's ISP for these issues? What did they say?

Was this all tested before blaming me for the problem?

I just live tried a blank project the Android export.

    Specs:

The latest version of Windows 10 64-bit

    Intel Core i7-3770

    Nvidia GeForce 1050ti

    32GB RAM

The latest version of Google Chrome

Really fast Internet (idk if pertinent, lol)

I have no problems on my side for a blank project as my first-ever export on Android tho.

It's not this type of export that I'm trying to do.

If the build server itself was causing the disconnects, it would probably be happening to everyone. But it's not.

Unfortunately we can't be sure from this information what the problem is. But it may be a problem with the Internet connection in your area. If that's the case then I'm afraid it's unreasonable to ask us to investigate or fix the problem. It's simply out of our control and it's impossible for us to help, no matter how much anyone insists we deal with it.

I would instead suggest that the next best place to go to for help would be your ISP. If there is indeed a problem with the network in your area, they may be able to identify what's going on, and if the issue is with their network they would be the ones who can resolve it.

Ashley Obviously you didn't bother to read what I wrote, because it's easier and more convenient to blame the customer.

I tested 3 different connections, wifi and 4G.

After 40 days the problem still persists.

I'm moving away from Construct 3, I'm using another game engine that imports C3P files and exports to APK.

I'm sad because I liked Construct, but the support is terrible.

To be honest, I feel that Playtronic has given almost all the info they can - They've done tests suggested to them such as packet test, build on different devices and different internet connection, etc. But, it is also true that, well, what can Scirra even suggest at this point? Unless the build server stores logs for each job, then maybe there could be a clue there, but if the logs say "disconnected, reconnected, disconnected, reconnected", then we will not be any further along. Unless the logs were clear that the build server ended the connection, or the user's device ended the connection?

At least there is the alternative method of using local cordova build, e.g. If someone had a deadline and then this issue began happening, it's great that there is an alternative, even if not preferred.

I have only a few more ideas or tests to try, but may need to DM you - I googled your username but couldn't see any relevant website or socials. Are you happy to post your discord, email, or any social links, or point me to somewhere so that I can message you?

Exactly. Identifying who is terminating the connection would be a giant step towards a solution. I would just like this to be investigated, other people possibly experience this error but don't care because there are alternatives to building, other people just abandon Construct 3 because they can't build and look for other game engines that do this. If there is a fault it cannot be ignored without at least identifying whose fault it is.

Why is the blame on my side? What am I doing? I'm just being guilty without proof.

Jase00, thanks for trying to help me.

    > I've provided tons of details here. Browsers, operating system, versions, hardware, connection, videos with the problem happening... I reported everything in detail, but the developers refuse to investigate.

They could try to reproduce your problem using similar build conditions. I did everything you show in the video and it works perfectly fine for me, and it will work for them. So how do they investigate if there are no obvious steps to reproduce the issue? If you could find a set of conditions under which you are able to at least build an empty project and report it on their github in detail - they would have something to investigate.

I'd suggest trying to build using a VPN. Since it happens with both WiFi and 4G, maybe there's a problem connecting to server from your location?

I already tried that and it didn't work. I don't believe it's a problem with the connection, my projects are sent correctly to the server, but during construction the connection is lost repeatedly, only this step fails.

I suspect there's something in the root structure of the project that the server doesn't know how to work with and so it fails, maybe something to do with the language... I don't know.

I have done over 40 bug reports on the Construct 3 github and my experience has been pretty decent with the response and efforts to fix the problems.

I think the problem arrises if you are reporting very vage issues without enough info or no steps to reproduce.

I think well all know from making games as well, that it is almost impossible to fix something if you cannot reproduce the bug and don't know what causes the issue.

But on the other hand I also understand that it's really bad to be in that helpless situation where you have a bug that really hinders the workflow that cannot be fixed.

I've provided tons of details here. Browsers, operating system, versions, hardware, connection, videos with the problem happening... I reported everything in detail, but the developers refuse to investigate.

It's the first time I've seen a company act like this when a customer reports a problem.

And this is not a free service.

I did some tests and it really doesn't work, but I successfully exported using Chrome on mobile, have you tried this?

I believe it is a Construct 3 incompatibility issue with some browser versions

    ssmpv1

I've tried this in the past and it didn't work, but I'll try again...

    "experienced some instabilities and errors"

    "recurring failures"

    "it really doesn't work"

    "it didn't work for me"

How on earth do you think anyone would be able to investigate this?

    fredriksthlm

This is a problem for the software developer to resolve, it is not the user's responsibility to discover and fix problems with a service he did not develop.

If your smartphone doesn't work, you don't investigate the failure or try to find out which circuits don't work, you just report the problem and the manufacturer investigates and fixes it.

If it was just me then it should work when I use a different device or a different connection. If any device or any connection I use gives this same error, then it is NOT an error just for me. If I try to build on another computer, with another connection and it doesn't work, someone else trying to build on this other device won't be able to either. I've tried to build on 3 different devices (1 computer, 1 laptop and a smartphone), I've tried to build using 3 different connections (wifi and 4G), I've tried to build with 4 different browsers. If anyone tries to build on any of these devices, with any of these connections they won't succeed either. Your recommendation to use the Cordova CLI is just a way to avoid investigating a paid service issue.

    Jase00

Thanks for your suggestions, I did the test you recommended and had 0% packet loss for upload/download.

I tested it on a notebook and the result is the same.

I tested it on my mobile using the same wifi and 4G connection, used different browsers and got the same error.

    I can't build APK.

Everything always worked amazingly well in 2022 but when it served it stopped on 12/20/2022 I was never able to build again.

In 2021 I had this same issue, Ashley refused to look into the issue because it worked fine for him.

I was ready to abandon Construct 3, I had already migrated my projects to another software, but before the subscription ended, the build was working perfectly again, I renewed my subscription and was able to continue working in 2022.
