  • celstrider Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I think teaming up for a jam might be fun, but I'm not sure yet how busy I'll be at the time of the jam, so I rather not commit yet. If I end up having time though for the jam I'll tell you!

  • Hi everyone!

I've been using Construct for quite a while now, but I've done so alone. That's why I'd really like to make a game in a team, partly for the experience, but also because it sounds like fun! There's no commercial intention in this project, but even though it's a hobby project, I'd like to work with people who can work on a project seriously. So for those of you who are interested, here's what I have to say about myself:

    • You can see most of my work on my site. The best game I've made though is (arguably) Dreams and Reality.
    • I don't have any particular idea in mind, so the plan would be to brainstorm on something together. Regarding my tastes in genres, I've mostly made artsy/experimental games, but I also really like action-rpgs and action/exploration games.
    • I'm a sucker for organization/productivity apps, so if you like using stuff like Trello, Slack, etc, that's awesome.
    • I can do a bit of everything, but I specialize mainly in design and programming.
    • I don't have much free time though, so I'd like to aim to develop (and finish) something simple.
    • Almost forgot to mention that I'm using the paid version of C2!

That's all, hope to hear from you!

(PS: If you're working on a game and think I'd be interested in it... send it over! If it's a cool project I'd love to work on it.)

  • Hey people!

It's been a while, but as I mentioned some point (I think) here's the final project file! It's a bit messy (and it has leftovers from the game that failed), but I hope it's of use to someone.

I'm currently working on an article where I talk about thoughts and experiences left by these games, will post it here when it's done!

  • So, I just finished teaming. Wait, wasn't I making a game called directions?

Yep... but I failed. I tried to make something simpler, but I failed at that too... Really, I could talk about what went wrong, but there isn't anything more to say than "an interesting idea + a busy week = failure".It's incomplete, but you can play what I made here.

It's pretty lame ending though: out of the 4 games I wanted to make in January, I only made two, failed at one, and couldn't finish the last one... If anything, I'm going to be giving compatibility another go in February, and if that goes well I might try finishing directions properly. Ah well... I did learn something though, and I'm glad for that. Let's hope what I learned here will be useful in the future!

  • Hey everyone,

I'm sorry to say that I failed at my 3rd weekly game for "Us." :/ To be honest, I still had some slim hopes of finishing it today or tomorrow, but in the end I decided it would be best to leave it. What happened? Well, two things mainly:

    • I had a couple of other important obligations for the week, and I ambitiously thought that I would have time to fulfill these and make a game.
    • The game idea I chose to do (compatibility) turned out to be much more complex than I anticipated.

I did start on the game, but really, if I didn't stop it now it would have eaten into the time of this week's game, which wasn't ideal either. I doesn't mean I have given up on the idea though! I think it's a pretty good concept, so I'll get around to in in February. Now though it's time for the 4th game... directions.

  • Finished writing a postmortem on closeness! It's interesting though, I ended up concluding that it being simple was a good and bad thing. Why you ask? You can read about it here.

  • Progress pics like this are always awesome, please keep on doing them! Definitely like the clean colors and look of the current title screen.

  • So yeah, it was a busy week and I only finished it now... but here's last week's game, tell me what you think!

  • Oh cool, never have tried out positioned audio so I'm looking forward to hearing it.

  • Gradients and textures really help a ton! Looking forward to the gameplay you'll make with these!

  • I really like the idea of that game and I see a lot of potential in it. Also, I found the game really calming to me.

I'm looking forward to your next weekly stuff!

    Thanks!

Have been kinda busy this week and haven't been able to work much, so I went an idea that feels pretty simple but I hope I'll execute well, called closeness. Here's a gameplay gif:

  • It doesn't seem to be loading up for me. Just a black screen.

Thanks for the heads up! It's strange though, I tested the ZIP file I uploaded and it worked fine, and then I tried re-uploading it but I still get a black screen. Have removed it for the time being, for now I'll upload the game to itch.io: https://alcex.itch.io/us

I also wrote a postmortem on this first game over at my blog! It's long and mostly negative, but I'm glad I learnt a lot on my first try. Let's hope to improve with this week's game!
