  • This sounds like an interesting offer to me..although not enough for me to pursue. 400euro would be real nice for a young developer in China though. I don't like the "automatically accepting part" either, whether in part or in the whole context. It comes off bad.

    I don't think there is anything wrong with paying someone for making a game for you and you don't have to be a publisher to do it. Heck, I could offer a $1000 usd for someone to make me a game and I am no big time publisher.

    The most important thing, as others have said, is to be careful. I like the idea of delivering a portion of the game and getting paid in increments. That way it keeps everybody honest.

    Edit: And small royalties are a GREAT idea. If the game is good enough to offer money for in the first place it should be good enough to allow a small percentage as a royalty.

  • Oh my god!!!! This is seriously my dream game. I really hope you finish it....I love space games. Just don't make it too random and have cool missions and I'll be the first to buy it.

  • Well, I didn't make it far on this one. I spent to much time dreaming about how cool the game could be and then ran out of time to make stuff... and I wasn't even using my own graphics!!

    Anyway, here are some screen shots since the game is so short I don't think it is worth posting. In the game you awaken in a distant galaxy, your memory weak, but you remember being attacked and left for dead, and your girlfriend captured. You start out with a weak ship, imprisoned on a prison planet, and must fight/talk your way out to eventually rescue your lost love.. in space!

  • why do we have to replace the data in construct directory with those python files..

    I said to replace them all for simplicity....but it is not necessary. All you really need to do is put all of the new files in the Construct directory. So if you do a copy and paste you could select "don't overwrite existing files". Now the reason you have to paste the new files is that the libraries required for Podsixnet do not exist in the regular Python distribution that ships with Construct.

    also, i seem to be having errors egarding strioIO.pyc when running execs..

    Do you have errors when you run the execs I built for the example games (pong and dungeon escape)? If you do not have errors for those, then it means you are not checking all of the include boxes when it comes time to build the executable in Construct.

  • I don't have much free time, but for only 3 hours... I think I can get in on this. Will probably do it this next weekend before the deadline. Sounds fun!!

  • You should have an array, INI, or hashtable of the correct answers. More specifically, the key words for the answer. Then when the user inputs their text and clicks the button you then parse the input text and check the text against your stored right answer.

    For example, for the question, "What is the longest river in the world?" The answer, Nile will be stored in some type of data structure mentioned previously that is indexed to the question. When the user types their answer, use the text manipulator object to grab each input text and compare to "Nile". That way answers like, "the Nile" will be correct as well.

    You can also do this with Python and regular expressions but I think you might be able to get by fine with just Construct objects.

    Edit: Oh.. for math then just compare the integers etc...

  • Sounds like a really cool game. Especially digging your plan to have in-space and on ground portions. I actually want to do a similar type of game at some point. Plan on being able to fly around and land on planets, plus fight in space. I'd volunteer, but have no free time right now (except to post random stuff on the forums )

    Also, I forgot that Adobe Acrobat has an option to convert a website to PDF automatically. You could download the free trial http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/tryout.html and give it a go. It will be a monster PDF.

    That is a really old post and regardless this is a legitimate request. So be nice.

    But DataFLashbot is right in that I highly doubt we will see customized .PDF documentation. Unless somebody with lots of free time steps forward to do it I don't see it happening.

    I don't have internet access at home, so I would like a .pdf version of the user manual so that I may read it offline

    Why don't you download the scirra wiki website to your computer. There are several free tools that do this. For example, (http://www.httrack.com).
