This example/turotial explains how to create 'continuous scrolling tiled backgrounds objects' (Scrolling textures). There are three main types which are considered here; they are those scrolling in one direction, four directions and rotating tiled backgrounds. The event coding includes both non-family and family objects.

An example can be found in the arcade Here

  • Thank you Spirantual. I enjoyed playing your game Evertree also.

If anybody has any suggestions for the game, please say. I've just been sent a whole lot from a user at Kongregate. Maybe too many.. haha... But I'll see what I can do.

  • Thank you again for your feedback and compliments.

AJTilley: I've written this to answer your request:

    scirra.com/tutorials/306/how-to-embed-a-construct-2-project-into-your-website/page-1

I'm not sure if it covers everything you were hoping. But I'll shortly be making a video tutorial to go along with it which may be more insightful. You embed your project into your site in a similar with the Scirra Arcade, however the html code that you copy and paste is trimmed down a lot.

    All the best,

    -Adam

Edit: I've added a video to the tutorial now.

  • Hey Geo,

What do you mean by focus?

When I view my game at Kongregate. Apart from the advert that pops up sometime, I don't have to click on the game for it to start or register my 'mouse over' commands.

I point the url iframe to a privately hosted url (not the Scirra Arcade).

  • Cheers,

I think then I'll have to change the folder name 'advert' to something else on the server. Not to much of a problem. Just need to remember to avoid similar naming for such a service.

Thank you for noticing it by the way. <img src="smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Thank you for checking again. You've taught me something new, I need to be a bit more careful with my labelling.

Does it block the banner on bother the main site (with iframe) and the direct url (with /advert/ in)?

    Cheers,

    ~Adam

  • Doesn't work in Firefox or Chrome for me. It works in Opera and IE though.

That's strange. I only have IE, FF and Chrome and they all work for me. Perhaps its a version issue. I may try re-compiling the banner later with the new version (90) of C2 to see if that changes anything. Else I'll be kicking myself.

Thank you for feedback and checking.

  • Update: I have been busy updating a lot of the artwork for the intro into the game, including logo, scirra, menu etc..

I have also added music and sounds (yes its my voice, embarassing :P).

Hopefully it's not too bad. I will be uploading it to the arcade in a few minutes as well as trying out the Kongregate integration.

Right now, its all about the highscore. But if I develop it further I think I'll change the dynamics to cover a variety of levels with a storyline featuring a sinister squirrel.

You support is very welcome. Follow me on twitter, or like me on facebook is you like the game and feel obliged to. Thank you.

**Have no uploaded it into the Scirra Arcade

  • Cheers for the reply Joannesalfa. It makes sense, HTML5 definitely seems the way to go. It clearly takes time for trust to develop. What a great opportunity to get good at Contruct2, for when the W3C start to recomment HTML5. :)

  • Thank you for the feedback. I like your web background in the site you've linked to.

I still need to trim up mu header, especially the graphic for the tabbing arrows. Plus move the iframe about.

    Also, nice Nibble game.

  • Joined Scirra a while back. After scrolling through the awards section (cough cough), I'd noticed I hadn't introduced myself. So to quell my rabid lust for Scirra medals I thought I'd say hello.

    Hi, my name is Adam.

I guess you could say I'm a freelance artist/illustrator. Although my career path has been else where. I recently decided to pursue a path focused more on my artwork (since its a big hobby) and so set up a website englishacorn.com (originally englishadam.com) to facilitate this.

Over the course of this year, I'm hoping to start and complete a variety of projects, as well as produce a series of tutorial videos relating to Construct 2 and illustration. And hopefully give back to the community some time.

    All the best.

    ~Adam
