  • The images are made in 3D then the developer uses a tool called spriter pro that takes 3D models and converts it into a 2D files so it can be used in Construct2.

PixelPower I wasn't in any case implying that Scirra isn't doing a good job. My only criticism was about announcing a new product very long before it was even close to being in alpha version. It only makes people start posting many questions (...) which the team may not be ready to answer because things are still very undefined.

Regarding the platform, I have yet to put the website together to showcase it, but I have been working on a first game using the platform which is based on helping companies make their staff more sensitive to cyber-security issues. You can find out more about it here: https://www.securitygame.biz/en/index.html

Let me know if you have any questions.

I watched the video, excellent graphics. The theme is something new and unique different from whats normally made. Programming wise its a bit of work to layout all the scenario's then have the user interact with them.

Bleenx I already own a full C2 license for quite a while now and have been working for the past 12 months on a major development using the tool (a serious game platform, based on a scenario engine). I was only looking forward to C3 for some further flexibility it may provide, whilst keeping C2 compatibility.

PixelPower Your statement doesn't make sense from a logical standpoint. You can't state bringing more people would be complicated at this stage and also argue that Scirra is keeping everything secret to avoid anyone copying. Either it's complicated to bring someone up to speed on understanding the inside of C2 and future C3 functionality and then it would be very difficult for competitors to copy or it's not and then Scirra could hire a few more developers. If you had looked at my post properly (but perhaps you're the mentally dull person - no need to insult people, at least that's not what clever people do), you would have seen my praise for Scirra's support of C2...

Sorry if I was harsh but I'am sick of people acting if Construct2 team isn't doing the best they can. They already answered the questions over and over in the thread. As far as your project that sounds good, did you post it in the working creations section, I would like to check it out. If your making a serious game, I salute you because I'am also tired of 1,000 flappybird and doodle jump clones made with Construct2. I am glad there are developers out there making full games.

    > There are only 2 developers Ashley and Tom. ...

    >

I think that is incorrect according to these pages they did expand the team: Team Page | Announcement Page

But when Tom and Ashley answered they just mentioned themselves. That's the only answer I can give out, who knows since that's based on 2015 June what has changed since then.

  • fm4fanAT Thank you for checking it out and posting the photo. Also your right there is no way I could have made it simpler.

lennaert Reading that made me laugh but your right some don't know a sprite from an image. But he said a sprite of the sun, so he knew it was an image. He was just feeling a case of "me so lazy". If I made his other example, he would have asked for more. I know his type I dealt with it before its just today I got fed up. Plus I am working on a larger game that is tiring me out.

  • A bit of a dick tbh hahaha

    Why?

He asks for help, you give some, he wants more, you complain

    no hard feelings though

In your first reply you offer them a solution in which you obviously pored some effort, which you willingly offer.

What stops them from wanting your arm if you offer them your fingers ?

I tend to give descriptive text solutions based on their needs which they need to design and implement themselves in their own project. Thus offering my mind.

When things go awry, these developers often post their attempts at the implementation suggested which I then feel obliged to edit or give comments on.

Haha I would have helped more but if he actually looked at the example, he would have seen the answer in his face. I can understand if it was something complex, I will help multiple times till they understand. But in this case I know he didn't even try. All he had to do was replace my button with his sprite in the event sheet, thats it!!! LOL!!!

Ashley I understand your point about voting, as it's the same in marketing: if you ask people about what they would be ready to purchase and at what price, people's feedback rarely matches their future actions...

Returning to the initial reason of my post, I can't help question Scirra's approach regarding communication around C3. Whilst a bit of teasing is a great thing, you don't publish information to raise people's interest and then keep silent for the next year or two. It's just a waste of everyone's time. The point I was trying to make and which hasn't been answered, is that related to Scirra's development staff. How many people are working on C3, while C2 is still be maintained (and you do a great job at this)?

I mean, if you're split between C2 maintenance and C3 and have only 1 or 2 other developers working full-time on C3, it may be another year or two before we see this new platform. In that case, wouldn't it be interesting to raise some funds via crowfunding or investors to have a larger team working on this?

There are only 2 developers Ashley and Tom. Yes they are maintaining Construct2 while building Construct3. No it would not be wise to have other developers jump in at this time because they would have to explain everything they did from the beginning to the new workers and there will be more bugs and errors. Yes they are doing a great job maintaining Construct2 don't you see all the updates they have been doing or are you dull mentally. They mentioned C3 to get feedback and they will implement some, but they will not tell us what they are doing because competing game engines will try to copy.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Check out City of Amber its console quality like , Construct is a beast if you know how to use it.

  • > I'am pretty sure publishers don't care what you use as long as the end product is great

    >

Hmm... We talking about HTML5 games right? How many publishers for this market do you know? I know only few. One of the biggest is a Softgames and they don't accept games created with Construct 2. It's right, many publishers have spetial C2 plugins etc but there is a pretty famous publishers that dosn't work with construct2 and it's dosen't metter how quality your game.

On the other hand there is a publishers without C2 plugins and implementation of their API will be real headache for common C2 user.

It doesn't matter the tool is what you create. GO look around in the forums see what other people make. There is some incredible stuff being made with Construct2 like CIty of Amber. Trust me the guy making CIty of Amber would have no problem getting any publisher. Its what you make don't blame the tool.

  • Yes you can make a game like that not exactly but very similar just using local storage. It would take a while to do all the menu's and stuff its tedious but doable.

  • Ok download my full game capx file, it will have that and more stuff your probably wanting. I code cleanly so you should have no problem looking through it. If you have any question about my example just ask!!
