  • I love to jump in and help member on the forum whenever I get spare time to do so. I even make a capx. file example for them so they can learn and study it, plus give them a mental break. But I hate when I help someone and then its like they didn't even look at the capx. file code they just run it and if its what they like, they ask for something else that they should be able to do on thier own.

Look at this to see what I mean, this guy isn't even trying!!! Tell me if Iam being a dick or you have the same experience?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • A bit of a dick tbh hahaha

    Why?

He asks for help, you give some, he wants more, you complain

    no hard feelings though

In your first reply you offer them a solution in which you obviously pored some effort, which you willingly offer.

What stops them from wanting your arm if you offer them your fingers ?

I tend to give descriptive text solutions based on their needs which they need to design and implement themselves in their own project. Thus offering my mind.

When things go awry, these developers often post their attempts at the implementation suggested which I then feel obliged to edit or give comments on.

  • I made my 2 projects in jan. and febr. After that my time got limited again, and i dropped in a black hole. Whitout a running project i have 2 options, lose what i learnded, or learn by solving other peoples puzzles. I learned an awfull lot that way, past months. I help when it is a challenge for me (well i hope i help). So for me, the motivation is differend. But yeah, i got that feeling you have a lot. And i dont feel a 'dick'.

Haha I would have helped more but if he actually looked at the example, he would have seen the answer in his face. I can understand if it was something complex, I will help multiple times till they understand. But in this case I know he didn't even try. All he had to do was replace my button with his sprite in the event sheet, thats it!!! LOL!!!

  • A lot of the time when somebody solved it neat but complicated - newer members have problems because they don't understand it.

In your case that's strange. Because you can't make it any simpler and everybody should be able to make a single button version (or at least enjoy try making one)

Here is a picture of the project (yes it's the whole project)

But the answer to your question could also be very simple

If you have to make a C2 project in school (and you don't like it) then a cry for help in the forum could be a way to get your project done.

  • Hehehe

    I fully understand PixelPower

Just imagine the following, I have seen users here pretend to know what a sprite is .... they just needed to be told It's an image

  • fm4fanAT Thank you for checking it out and posting the photo. Also your right there is no way I could have made it simpler.

lennaert Reading that made me laugh but your right some don't know a sprite from an image. But he said a sprite of the sun, so he knew it was an image. He was just feeling a case of "me so lazy". If I made his other example, he would have asked for more. I know his type I dealt with it before its just today I got fed up. Plus I am working on a larger game that is tiring me out.

  • Just keep focusing on what you deem important. There will always be users attempting to take the easy way anywhere.

    Good luck
