  • Wow this is all really fantastic information, thanks guys!

And GameMaker is on sale for $45 right now!

Kiyoshi, just curious, could you elaborate a bit more on why it cannot be used for your entire game?

And rtcarroll07, UDK with Kismet also looks really nice! Thanks for the information!

TELLES0808, yeah I know that 3D is a greater challenge, but I've already built some moderately complex 3d animations, and I would just like to experiment with potential uses for these programs. I am particularly interested in building 3D web applications.

  • Hello!

I know that 3D development tools are almost always likely to be inherently more complex than 2D development tools, but I'm wondering if anyone here could suggest some programs that share an ease of use and power that is comparable to C2 [or simply relatively easy and powerful]? I just want something that I can use to create relatively simply 3d content for games and apps, and I'm looking for more ideas.

    What do you guys use/recommend?

I already use after effects, flash, unity, blender, and sketchup.

    Thank you!

  • That's really awesome thanks so much for your help Kyatric!

  • Thank you for the offer! I wish you the best of luck with your competition, and good work putting together some attractive prizes!

  • Yeah I agree, I just thought if there was a popout (not popup, necessarily, just something that appeared in front of you but was attached to the site) that you could click anywhere to have it disappear, it might help Ashley and Tom, or anyone else here to provide help, from having to constantly explain the bug reporting procedure.

  • Oh wow, you are correct. This is a photoshop feature. That is embarrassing. I'm sorry, I use several programs every day, and am constantly learning new ones. Evidently, sometimes I become confused between them.

Thanks for your explanation Kyatric, this was certainly my mistake.

...and, since the subject was brought up above...do you know how I can make a global variable mimic the system time (to the 0.1 second, or something very similar, would be necessary in my case)?

Or, if there is a way to reset the system time, that would be fine as well. Thank you again!

  • 1. Thank you Ashley, I invested the issue on these forums before I posted here, and I have read that other users have successfully used global variables to identify specific points of time. My project was unable to do this, and after reproducing it in the .capx above, I believed that I had discovered a bug, since I believed others had claimed to have done precisely what I did in the past successfully. I'll seek assistance in better understanding how to have system time and global variables interact.

    2. As noted in my first post, the "g" key is a shortcut for creating groups, when more than one event is selected. However, when you have notes between your events, the "g" key shortcut works sometimes, and not other times. This was a less significant bug, but something that didn't work properly, and so I thought I'd let you know. It is my belief that the .capx I provided is sufficient in demonstrating this. I thought that my explanation above would effectively explain the issue, especially when coupled with the notes of my .capx. This small bug (or not) doesn't rely on events be active, it is simply a small bug (or not) in the event editor.

Thank you again for the clarification to my first point, and I apologize for not being as clear as I thought I was with the "g" issue. I'm only trying to help.

  • You're welcome! :D

  • I've isolated these issues for you.

    1. "Time" variable doesn't properly sync to a global variable

Note: Doesn't work in updated chrome, ff, or ie9, but malfunctions a little differently in each one.

    2. Shortcut "g" key (for grouping events) only works sometimes when there is a note between events. Please test several variations in this .capx

Everything has notes so it should be very easy to follow.

    Using updated win7 64, updated AMD Catalyst drivers, C2 r103, radeon 5770 1gb ddr5

    i hope this helps!

  • just thought I'd let you know that the "w" key isn't functioning well at all at the lrtw.net version for me, and it literally doesn't function at all on kongregate. Using updated chrome, win64, updated drivers.

    sorry :(

  • I'm just curious, what kind of experience are you expecting to hear of?

There must be something that you find to be uncertain should you be requesting information regarding it.

E.g. Perhaps you don't know if putting your code on market.js is a good idea?

Or perhaps you feel market.js is a difficult location to import your game to, and as such you would like to feel as though there is some genuine incentive for you to post it there?

My point is, the answer you are really looking for might not come directly from your question. My imagination tells me that if you were curious, and nothing else, about the efficacy of market.js, you would have approached this question differently.

Likewise, if none of the above applies, than my suggestion is to simply post to Market.js and become the answer to your own question. Can't hurt, right?

I hope this is helpful, as that is all I intend to be in this case!

  • Hello!

Whenever I look through the bugs forum, I constantly see Ashley directing users to refer to the "how to report bugs" page.

So I'm thinking that, if possible, the "Create new Topic" button in the bugs forum should link, through some means, to either the "how to report bugs" post, or a brief overview of the bug reporting stipulations.

I myself have sought help and mistakenly not followed directs (sent large .capx), and I think this small, intervening step could really boost the efficiency of the bug reporting, both in time for bugs to be found(users must respond after they see they've made a mistake), and Ashley's (or anyone else) having to direct those users to report the bug properly.

So yeah, if this can be done, I think it would be a nice feature.

    Thank you~~

  • Just wanted to express my interest in this as well!

I'm going to download the alpha tonight to take a look, I'm really shooting for your success. Please keep us informed!

Have you read through the second page, above? That should answer your question, I think.
