    If arrow key is pressed, wait 1 second, then simulate the control for the following platform character? :)

  • This gets a little complicated if its a platform game..

    Does the NPC have all the same properties as you? Like same gravity, mass, jump strength?

    Is there moving platforms in your game?

  • Check out the website, when the competition starts in august you need an account and you need to check for the theme of the games. :)

  • The 3GS has quite a weak benchmark as compared to the iPhone 4, and especially iPhone 4S.

    Most games on the App Store don't cater to the 3GS users anymore.

    Though if you really do manage to get a game working on the 3GS, it should have no problem at all running on a newer hardware.

  • sirLobito That works, but I think using a group would be neater :)

    Make a variable - Countdown - with default value 3.

    Create a text - txt_Countdown - make it say 3 for convenience

    Put all your controls into a Group,

    At the start of the layout, disable the entire group

    "Every x seconds"

    • Subtract 1 from Countdown
    • Set txt_Countdown to Countdown
    • Activate your group of controls

    Ludum Dare Homepage

    I've never entered Ludum Dare Competition nor Jam before, but I've always been a follower and supporter of the 48 hour challenge.

    At this moment submitting ideas for the Theme of the next competition & jam is open.

    For those familiar with Ludum Dare, basically, everyone can suggest themes, and they will open voting for themes, weeding out the plain and boring. Then when the theme is confirmed, you work on a complete game within 48 hours and submit it for judging. Judging is also by votes, and people who have submitted games can vote for other games.

    There is no physical prize, but you game gets featured on most indie game websites around the world, pretty much all the fame you need. Notable people like the creator of Minecraft, Notch, has made entries in past competitions.

    I urge all the members heres to try their luck when the competition opens on August 24th. I also would be very fond of a community effort game submitted to the Jam!
