  • Make clicking on the button toggle a Boolean.

Check for the Boolean, if enabled, set the object invisible.

    Else, set the object visible.

If you want to save events in the free version..

Make two buttons, create one over the other, make the top one invisible by default.

When you press the bottom button, it sets the top button to be visible and also makes the other object invisible.

Pressing the top button would hide itself and make the other object visible.

  • Haha, I love how this topic has become a discussion about r100, WebGL and Shaders.

I too can't wait to see Construct realize the potential WebGL!

  • The simplest way I can think of add jumping to 8direction movement is to use a hidden object with the platform behavior to get your jump height from and set it up like this:

    Genius.

    Thank you!

  • .exe is the export which people have been really holding back moving from CC to C2. Can't wait for this!

  • I'm trying to work out how I should, work out a 8-Directional movement system, similar to the one currently available as a behavior, but adding another layer of depth.

By this I mean being able to move up, down, left, right & jump.

I also want to consider being able to jump attack, being able to attack enemies which are also in the air.

    • My idea for this is to check if enemy is in the air, if Yes, then making it attack-able.

This idea is best demonstrated by this video..

I also considered a platformer behavior but adding the depth into moving up and down.

    Any suggestions?

  • I was a long-time game maker fan, even till the day I discovered Construct Classic, which at the time was still quite lacking of features, but already so much cleaner and easier to use than Game Maker.

I worked on plenty of game maker games and enjoyed both scripting in GML and eventing. But the two aspects never felt as though they were an integrated experience for me. I felt as though I was calling scripts with events most of the time, or wholly using one or the other.

What I can see Construct doing now is having even scripts behave as drag-and-drop behaviors, which certainly doesn't give as much ease in changing options, but is much neater and easier for people who don't know anything about codes.

  • Oh wow, this is embarrassing <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> Should have done more research!

    Thank you Nimtrix.

I was confused when I saw people commenting about $99 to make iOS apps, for which I assumed was for an iOS exporter, I think it was for the apple dev account.

  • I'm just wondering will the exporters for iOS, Android be available within Construct 2 itself, or would we need separate licenses for CocoonJS and directCanvas exporters?

  • The game looks promising, you seem to have a very good sense of art style and you are pretty keen on making the game look good. Keep updating the blog! Just read the new today's post and I like the reasoning for the name! Haha

  • When I load the game I just see the logo two buttons and when I click either one the button flies out the screen and stays there. :/ using the latest version of firefox.

  • Hey,

I'm just wondering if there will be an exact date for when the price will increase for the licenses, as I've been planning on getting it but my finances have been holding me back. I recently won a game developer competition with a Construct 2 game and I want to use half the winnings to buy a standard license.

But the money won't be in for another two weeks, and by then I'm thinking it will be too late..?

Will there be a last minute announcement maybe a day or two before? <img src="smileys/smiley9.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Would really appreciate it.. <img src="smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Hi nevermind this! I just purchased it with my own money. Thank you to the Scirra Team on creating such a great product ;)

  • When you put things that way, it does make sense.

We have all the features we need to make our own particles with sprites :)

  • Hi there, I've been using Construct 2 for a while now and I've been so impressed by some of the features.

However, one that didn't quite impress me was the particle system, particularly the lack of options for it. I know the whole engine is in early stages and there may be limits of WebGL which hold this back, but I really like the Unity3D Shuriken Particle system and all its features, including particles that grow as time goes on, change colors by time, as well as rotate as time goes on.

It also uses curves to do the timing over its lifetime.

Is the particle system still in its early stages as it is now?

I'd love to see what innovative stuff gets thrown in later if it is!
