  • Apfelguts Sorry I didn't see your reply I was gone for a while . Yes youtube video's are one of the ways you can increase your luck in getting your game out there to the masses.

  • Triforce and

tunepunk your 100% right on the mark!! His game actually is doing very well with ADs. The reason is because the type of game he made is not just a pickup and play but goals oriented game with many missions. That keeps users coming back for more, including myself.

You need to give players a reason they should come back to the game. Thats why instead of jumping in to make a game you have to think about what can your game feature to keep users coming back. Also means you have to learn the toughest parts of Construct2 which is the various save features. If you game has stuff like in game shop to upgrade your hero , missions screen with various missions, or in game achivements so people can unlock various achievements without internet connects. Basically you need to give the player alternate goals to complete in the game, that gets players hooked to keep playing and unlocking stuff within the game.

For example right now I been working on a game and added a missions section. In this section you have various missions to complete in the game to unlock the checkmarks. Stuff like how many enemies you defeated, total powerups collected in game, highscore etc. This will keep the players coming back because players always have the need to unlock everything in the game.

I know programming all types of various save features can be mind numbing. I found it tedious to do the missions screen but its a very important feature to keep players hooked. In the past I was lazy about it but I realized all these things add up to a great product.

  • I forgot to mention its on the Wii U now.

  • I pointed out the mobile games just to show successful games are made with Construct 2. But if your asking can Construct 2 make games that are successful on PC , then yes of course but its up to you the creator to make one.

But also like I said if you want to succeed you need a marketing budget to effectively get your game out. Most developers just make games and release them with free marketing. If you do that then its going to be tough to get sales. You can try and maybe be lucky or you can invest in the game to help it reach a fanbase.

Mortar Melon is the only PC game that reached 1 million downloads and that was back when Windows 8 was popular. Thats the only PC success story I know of.

I didn't say there wasn't any game published. I don't get your point bud.

I get your point on Android there have been a couple of successful games that have gotten over 100,000 downloads and/or been featured on Apple and Android store over the past year

So you see over the past year things have been heating up for Construct2 developers. You can make great games with Construct 2 that people will enjoy I just gave you some proof. Its all up to your ability to make a game that connects to the user. Every game engine has some hit games, some more than others. Unity for example has tons of hits. But most of the developers that made it big in unity also had money to market their games too.

So go make that game!! You don't know your game might be the next big hit!!

  • Thats a great resource you found there , a great addition to any developers marketing. Just to note alot of these youtubers lean more towards graphics so to have a better chance make sure your game is visually appealing . But the youtubers that do retro games are the best shot if your graphics are more pixelish type. I hope to see more Construct 2 games featured on youtube!!

  • Hello!

I think that you need more work with graphics - make more different explosions, make it a lot smoother (much more frames needed). Try to implement more uniqueness to gameplay!

Thanks I was thinking about adding more frames so you confirmed it I will add more 2 more frames to the explosions. I have more power-ups I will implement today to add more variety to gameplay. I just had to test on my device before adding anything else in. Thanks for the feedback!!

  • You could go completely crazy and do an alien theme park.

  • > The game is good but will feel a little grindy with the prices of of upgrades compared to how. The difficulty is a little tough when you start those missiles give a good chase but the player will get the hang of it after 3-5 tries. The game is solid but in the future when making a similar game just adjust prices of items.

Thanks for the feedback! It's tricky finding that sweet spot between the game's challenges and rewards.

Yes it is tricky the 1st time I included a shop in my game, I made the prices to low. So what ended up happening is players where able to unlock the strongest guns after 30 minutes of gameplay and get to the end. But you learn through trial and error

  • Well I showed him that you can make successful games with Construct 2 here

Construct 2 is already a proven tool and that link is the proof. I think some people just come here to complain about the tool and leave. I mean games with 100,000 or more downloads shows you can make a hit game.

  • Are you using physics with platformer and solid behaviors?

  • Your a freaking life saver and if any of my games blow up, your the 1st to get a nice donation.

  • Impressive, how is it with earnings from adsense ect when your app has over 100,000 downloads? Should be a monthly income?

From reading the thread when he had 10,000-50,000 downloads his profit was $100-$150 per month. Right now he has 160,000 downloads so his profit should be triple that a month or maybe more.
