  • Thank's Geo!

It took me awhile to understand what you meant by reset. I thought it was something you selected. It finally clicked. Thank's a lot Geo. I appreciate your help.

  • This may be something simple, but I'm having trouble with it.

I have some attack boxes that I are in the perfect place when facing to the right, but how can I get them to the same spot on the other side when I face to the left?

    Here is my capx:

  • Hey everyone,

I've actually posted several times on the forums, but I just saw the introduce yourself thread and thought I would try to make friends here. I completed the platform tutorial a long time ago and took a break from having a lot on my plate at the time. I have recently got back into this and I'm currently at work learning a lot.

I love music and I'm a musician, but I find others too unreliable to get the success I want out of it. So I hope that I can make a game and put my music into which would be satisfying to me in multiple ways.

Games are so fun and very creative. I never would have pictured myself being able to create a game back in high school, but with this software the possibilities are amazing. Thanks Scirra and I hope to grow with this company and everyone that's here as well.

  • It took me about 15 minutes to get what you were saying, but after messing with it I finally got it. Thanks a lot Geometrix!

  • Whenever I have the "Player" attack, the "attack boxes" are only in the area I have them "spawn" at which is either "image point 0 or 1". How can I get the "attack boxes" to stay with my character when they "spawn" until I have them "destroyed"?

I've tried using the "set to" which I learned in the platform tutorial and I've tried some things with the "pin" behavior, but I got nothing from it. If anyone can help it would be very helpful for the progress of my learning.

  • Here is what I have as of now:

  • I think I need a bit more explanation for the 2nd and 3rd Jayderyu

  • Try Construct 3

  • Yes Astrosus, I am aware of this. I'm just using the sprites to practice with. Not planning on releasing this.

jayderyu - I got the jump down now working on the rest. Thanks

  • Thanks Kyatric,

Now I'm working on having the animation return to falling animation. I'm starting to get a hold of a lot of things. I just gotta keep working with it.

  • Hey everyone,

I am making a platform game and I'm just wondering how I can set an animation for attacking while jumping instead of the same attack while on the ground (while using the same button to attack as I do on the ground).

2nd question is how could I make a dash happen. I have the sprite for it and have his mad speed going higher during that sprite, but I still have to hold the direction I want to go (which I don't want to have to do). Also I am having trouble getting him to stop having that max speed after dashing. I have it set to where to whole animation plays and then he will be slow again, but if I jump or some other sprite int interrupts the "dash" sprite he continues to go at a ridiculous speed.

3rd question is I have a combo made of 3 different "Attacks" (all the same button). If I click too fast then I cannot use the attack at all anymore....anyone know how to prevent this?

    dropbox.com/s/2h81lhsa2ux8y2v/Test2.capx

    Controls: W = Jump, A = Left, D = Right, Shift = Dash, Left Mouse Click = Attack (which is a combo).

I know this is a lot for one post, but I thought it would be best to put it all together. Sorry if it's any inconvenience and thanks for any effort to help.

  • Thank's man. Still took me a minute to understand why my way wouldn't work. I had "On key pressed" and it has to be "On key down". I don't really understand the difference between the two when reading them aloud, but it made it work.

You seem to know this stuff pretty good. I had more question, because I cannot find a good reference for this. I have an attack, but when in the air during a jump how would I set a different attack animation up (AirAttack)? It's a platform game.

  • I have looked in the forums, but the best explanations I can find are answered for Classic Construct and not Construct 2. How do you move with "WASD" controls instead of the arrow keys.

  • Yes, that is correct Ashley. The first platform available to jump on.

Would you like me to strip it down to the problem as you asked previously and post it again?

  • Thanks, works perfect!

  • Hey guys,

Thanks for responding, but someone suggested in the "How do I" forum that I use the playerbox instead of the player for the collision to make the platform fall and it works perfect.
