  • Hi guys,

today I have created the first version of my First Person Shooter on Rails Template.

You can have a look at a sample level here:

    https://youtu.be/ieW6GzBVLjs

The template has already 4 different movement systems:

    - The camera moves slowly towards the mouse (as seen in the video)

    - The camera move left or right directly (bullet movement)

    - The camera move left or right following the input of the player (8 direction movement)

    - The camera uses pathfinding, going from the first priority target and then move to the next one, updating its position every X seconds.

To reload the weapon you need to wheel up with the mouse, a bit annoying but it is just to add a bit or realism and force the player to use wisely the bullets.

Every weapon has different stats, max bullets, reloading time, etc. All customisable changing the array data on a separate event sheet.

As you can see from the video, it is possible to zoom in, there's parallax and mouse and sprites are automatically aligned even when the layers move and scale due to the parallax action.

It is possible to pick up items (as you can see the bullet left by the dead enemies) and more feature are coming soon.

What do you think about it?

    looks very good!!! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz">

  • Today i figured out that with the new flagship mobile devices the Letterbox scale doesnt work anymore. The aspect ratio is 18.5:9? How to solve that problem? Is there any other workaround than rescale the backgrounds of games?

i think best option for you is use scale inner/outer mode

  • Hi,

So I'm currently still working on all my art but wanna make a headstart for the programming side of things of the game

I can make the main character move in all directions and that's about it as far my programming skills go

the game is a top-down Twin-Stick shooter very similar to ''Geometry Wars'' but very much simplified and without all the bells and whistles

The game will be published on IOS & Android platforms so will need touch controls and a leaderboard

A quick game that has a start button and a high score very much like ''flappy bird'' but in a top-down shooter universe with 1 map and just a handful of enemies

since I still need some time to finish and wrap up my artwork I would appreciate some rough estimation of the cost and time schedule to make a game like this happen

Ohh and the game will be done in pixel art.

    Best Regards

    hi, what's your badget?

honestly if it depended on me I would have banned you at the start of this umpteenth useless discussion

I'm basically pointing out how your response makes you appear like you lack empathy.

You can't expect everyone to be mature and act like adults in this community. So we ought to serve as good examples and be openminded about others.

look at that I'm not talking about the newbie, but of people with thousands of reputation points, users of the forum for years, who have the same attitude of the troll here (which in fact is just a fake account of one of those there to complain that it is satisfaction was denied ..)

RetroInsight, if rep mattered as much as you imply then you would know better. If you cannot keep it civil, please do not reply. This is meant to be a serious discussion, if you cannot handle that then scroll on.

get in your head that the perfect gamedev-tool does not exist, if you are not even able to isolate and report a simple bug in a civil and constructive way, but you are only good to provoke the patience of scirra developers and forum moderators and to discredit Construct in general, what else do you expect?

indeed for what I saw around there is too much patience from part of the staff against many dull and clumsy people, fundamentally evil people.

I too as a simple user I'm tired of reading these complaints on the forum, so I'm close to zenox98 that have my full solidarity.

and I ask directly to Tom and Ashley that, if it were possible, adopt an even more rigid lines in the forum rules.

we want to read threads of people who develop games not of people who claim the impossible when they are not even able to tie their shoes.
