dop2000 little update from my side..

I spent last twenty-four hours doing intensive use of Construct2 after windows 10 updated, without reboot my notebook, everything is still OK.

I have also done various "tests" how to launch twenty Construct2 sessions with related open projects, or close and reopen the software dozens of times, and I have not found any anomaly.

    everything works perfectly.

  • ,

I know about these, of course, but is there any way to delete them after use, besides overwriting them? That's what I'd need. I apologize if I worded my issue poorly.

i don not understand why. you decide when save or load state, overwriting the previous one. I do not understand what sense it has to erase it

  • (Second try, since I had posted this on the C3 forum like a moron)

    Hello,

I've just started making an RPG and I'd want to know how to handle Quick Saves on Construct 2.

By Quick Saves, I mean those that are immediately deleted when you load them : they let you save your progress so you can resume later, but prevent save-scumming, unlike regular saves. They're seen in most RPGs, where dying sends you back to your last proper savepoint, serving as a means to stop playing at any point, should something come up, without allowing to save anywhere, which would severely undermine the tension those games need to be fun in my opinion, so it's a pretty big problem.

While normal saving is as easy to perform as choosing the corresponding system action, I can't seem to find anything about making Quick Saves nor do I have any real idea how to do it. Could anybody help me out? Or at least point me in the right direction? ...did I miss an obvious solution like an idiot?

Thanks in advance... and sorry for wasting your time in case this issue was already dealt with elsewhere!

sorry, they are not good load/save state on system actions?

    what is this Electron?

it's a webview framework like node webkit, save a few MB (30circa) on the export but it does not support many things that nw,js does.

so imao definitely not convenient to use it

, oh, then you are lucky, you not affected by this bug <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

currently it seems so, we see in two days if everything is still ok

    I'm working hard on my project <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy">

    , Was C2 slow before?

I'm guessing your laptop rebooted after installing the update? Could you try not rebooting it for a couple of days and see if C2 slows down?

as far as I'm concerned, it always worked well for me. ok I leave the PC turned on a couple of days I'm curious to see if everything goes well

hi everyone just one update from my side (sorry english)

This morning i have updated my W10 notebook to lastest updates availables, since then im using C2 several hours and everithing is working fine.

so i think those W10 updates they have nothing to see with the issues experienced some users reported around, maybe is just a coincidence but imho nothing to really correlated on the problem.

  • If i have an action that runs every tick like for example if a var=1 set mirrored true. Does it run every tick and set the object to be mirrored even if it's already mirrored and nothing actually changes? Same question for pin set var and others.

just to ensure you can add another condition like

    if var=1

    if "object"is not mirrored

    set mirrored true

  • im using this method for make loading screen bar

  • very interesting pack, thanks for share!!

dop2000 could be helpful isolate what Windows version/update begin this conflict with C2 then understand why and if it is a problem of Microsoft or a problem of Scirra.

dop2000 i think only thing is if you can try with an old version of windows10 formatting all your system then reinstalling W10 and C2.

if problem disappear we are all 100%secure that ins'nt a Construct bug but something related at some update changes.

Providing this specific information a Ashley i think we can help him to focus if is it possible to do something about the issue

My guess is it's after a particular windows 10 update that things got slower. Maybe we can pinpoint which one? Here's a lest of them:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4058258

The other topics on similar performance issues seemed to stem from late December. Anyways, here's a list of users that posted their win10 build version and said they were/were not affected. I appended the date of the update, or date range when the exact build wasn't specified.

For anyone who wants to find the exact build of your windows 10, open up notepad and click on help->about.

    Affected:

    dop2000

    16299 (10/17/17 - 1/31/18, but i assume the latest)

--- also mentioned on another thread that after the 1/3/18 update things felt slower.

    BackendFreak

    15063.850 (1/3/18)

    Unaffected:

    R0J0hound

    10586.633 (10/11/16)

    RetroInsight

    15063 (4/5/17 - 1/17/18)

    NN81

    15063 ..

So far the update in question is sometime after April 2017. Maybe the change log could give some revelation of why things are now slower. At the very least I may get an idea when to stop getting win10 updates.

    NN81

What's the exact build number you're using?

hi, im using the Version 1703 (OS build 15063.726 - 11/14/2017)
