  • I'm trying to make an FMV game that's comprised of multiple scenes that happen in a row in the same location but in random order, but currently the screen sometimes flashes briefly when switching and playing the next video. How do I preload the next clip while the current one is playing.

Also, how to I scrub videos during gameplay? For adding gameplay elements that rely on positional data within the video, I'm trying to make an editor where I can scrub through the video and add hitboxes overlayed at specific times. I have it set so that pressing left and right rewinds and fast-forwards the current video while paused, but you can't see the playhead position until the video is played again.

  • Maybe the "Is in preview" condition in System:

    Is in preview

True when running the project from a preview in Construct, and false when running after being exported. Useful to add debug or diagnostic features for previewing only.

That's exactly what I was looking for, thanks!

  • In my game there are events that display debug text on-screen, allow me to skip levels with a keypress to test out progression, and allows me to write par values to my levels saved from my level editor. Currently, all of these events have a condition "If Devmode=true" and I have to remember to disable the line that sets the devmode boolean to true before I export my game for publishing. In unity, Godot and Unreal, I usually have those types of functions set up to automatically disable on my exported build without having to do anything manually. What would be the Construct 3 equivalent method for achieving this?

  • Does C3 support the enhanced features of Sony’s DS controllers such as adaptive triggers and the touchpad?

  • I remember 11 years ago when the Scirra staff said they discourage the use of flowcharts in programming, saying that “they are really inefficient with space, and you quickly end up with a unwieldy spaghetti which hurts more than it helps”, and now they’ve implemented them. I’m curious what changed their minds.

  • How do I delete the contents of %User%/Appdata/Local/GameName upon uninstalling from Steam? I submitted a game for review and Steam staff came back and said too many files left behind upon uninstall.

  • I’m using the iOS version on iPad Pro. I follow the instructions on the website for putting it on my home screen as an app, and have used it for several hours. I don’t have this issue on the Windows version. It can’t be a restriction on mobile devices though, because their features page clearly advertises that it can be used offline immediately before and after paragraphs detailing the ability to use it on mobile devices as well as pc and Mac. I doubt they would put something so blatently misleading like that if it were the case that the offline feature only works on pc and Mac, especially since they don’t list that as a restriction.

  • Several updates later, same issue. When will this be addressed?

  • As of today, this bug still persists. I'm having the same issue with the most recent update.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Since the previous update, I’m still having the same issue. Is this planned to be fixed in any future updates?

  • Ah, found it. Thanks!

  • The link on your website for the official C2 manual isn't working:

    scirra.com/manual/150/manual.zip

It says "Download the Official Construct 2 Manual (2.2mb)" but it just links back to the website. I'm going to be going on a 7 month western Pacific deployment soon and won't have internet during most of that timeframe, so I won't have a way to reference the online manual. Is this offline manual hosted anywhere else?

  • Admin: removed part of post telling people to use other software

The features there is way better and Construct 3 is an incomplete product especially with the current SDK limitation, trust me!

But if you are a startup and have low in funds... Then I guess Construct 3 is fine.

But don't buy Construct 2 anymore, for it is outdated and currently overpriced after the price raise to encourage new users to subscribe to Construct 3 instead.

Does Construct 2 have the issue where you have to connect to the internet every 7 days to verify? I can't use Construct 3 since I'm without internet 6-8 months out of the year on average.

  • New users should get Construct 3. It's actively developed and getting new features and improvements all the time. There's a list of all the new features Construct 3 has over Construct 2 here. At this point, Construct 2 is only being maintained with bug fixes.

Which would you recommend to new users who are without internet 6-8 months out of the year (Navy servicemember who deploys often)? Will the offline mode time restriction be a limiting factor in this scenario?
