  • Everything's a worry! But since most options in the game contain at least 3 things to choose from, I'm not too bothered by it.

There are also various post-credit scenes you can see (based on your choices), books to read, cassettes to listen to, lots of stuff tied to choices. It's not really a game you can see everything in, in one playthrough.

And if nobody buys it, I will have absolutely 0 problems just playing games from now on, instead of making them. My brain is fried. It'll be nice to have something on Steam at least.

  • My construct 3 game now has a demo on Steam. It has a single level cut from the middle of the game.

  • Hey there,

I've used positional audio multiple times in my project already, and for the most part is has worked the way I need it to. However, I seem to have hit a limitation and I'm wondering if there's a way around it. This is what I'm after:

So if the player is in the red, they hear the music really loudly. If they're in the blue, it fades off the further you get from the source. If you're outside of the blue, you can't hear it at all.

When I look at the options for positioned audio, I am perplexed as to what the options mean or if this is at all possible. Changing the angles to any value doesn't seem to make a difference. The biggest issue I have is that there doesn't seem to be a way to 'tighten' up the area for where the music is loudest vs where it fades off.

I'd prefer to do this with C3's built in audio if possible because it's easier to manipulate when it comes to fading and so on.

Is this something that can work out of the box?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

At the moment I am using 3 webm videos in one of my layouts. They weigh a total of 5MB.

The largest (in dimensions) is 1MB. It runs for 13 seconds and loops. It is 1600x1120.

I am using video because there's a lot I can do in a video that I can't do in C3. I've tried plugins and a myriad of other things, and I thought I'd hit the jackpot when everything ran smoothly.

Then I tried it with workers set to off. I was advised that games should work well in this mode for various reasons, including compatibility.

With workers on, the game runs at 144FPS (my max refresh rate).

Without workers, it's around 60 and stutters a lot.

When I remove the videos as background elements, it's a lot smoother.

Can anyone tell me how I should proceed? I'd love to keep using workers, I can't fault the performance with them on. Will the Greenworks plugin work with workers? Am I likely to face any other issues if I force them on?

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

I've been using sublayers for a few days now and wanted to share some questions / feedback.

    1. Is it possible to lock and unlock all sublayers if you lock/unlock the parent? At the moment you can hide/show all sublayers by hiding and showing the parent, it'd be very helpful if locking worked the same way.
    2. Can you keep all sublayers collapsed by default, or remember which state you left them in? It's time consuming to hide / show them all for each layout each time you open a file as they always open in an expanded state.
    3. Are you able to add some sort of indicator to each layer that contains sublayers? Eg: a colour, an up/down arrow

They're extremely useful, thanks for adding them!

  • Yep, that was it! Would you be interested in expanding on this off-site? I'd be willing to pay more + then provide whatever we come up with to others. Otherwise please send me a PayPal address, I really appreciate your help.

    Thanks

  • Yeah, I was thinking of that as a last resort. I swear I recall seeing somewhere that you can natively track a video's time, so I was thinking of syncing each to that, but I haven't used C3 in over a year now so I forget what the plan was exactly.

If you want to get in touch and perhaps be paid for a working solution, I'd be happy to work something out, please let me know

    Thanks

  • $30 for a working answer that involves a nice solution. I'd rather not do this the hacky way...

  • Hello,

Is there a way to play subtitles for cinematic videos so that they line up to the parts where they are needed?

For example, at 0:20 play the first subtitle, then at 0:25 play newer subtitles, and so on.

I thought this was possible but the last time I looked at it was ~2 years ago. I can't seem to figure out how to do it now.

    Thanks

  • Hello

I'm currently working on a choose your own adventure type game. I have an hours worth of animation ready and I need someone to help me piece it together.

Here's how it basically works: videos play and present the player with choices. Sometimes the player will come across interactive areas. The character walks from left to right, can interact with things, pick things up, and I'll specify how little things need to work. The main thing is calling videos when needed, keeping track of player choices, and some mechanics I have in mind.

I could do the entire thing myself. In fact I've done around 80% of it already, but it's cumbersome and I want a good framework to work with for the sequel.

I do not want you to make the entire game. I need a single layout with all the mechanics required and then I will build the entire thing based off of that. I am also handling the animation, audio, asset creation etc. All I need is someone who can program the mechanics nicely, in a way that can be easily extended to other scenes / layouts.

I've paid Steam, the product page is ready and I want to try and get it up toward the end of this year. PC is a definite, mobile would be great as well.

15 years ago I made a video series that now has around ~45 million views today (though the bulk were from back then when it was new). The quality of this is MUCH higher and I expect that it'll sell fairly well.

I have a full list of requirements of which I can share once an NDA is signed.

Ideally I would pay $1,000 and revenue share, but it's up for discussion. Please PM me for details.

    Thanks

  • I guess that rules me out of creating an Android version of my game?

At this point I'm getting pretty tired of finding all of these additional restrictions and issues after having purchased the app

  • Using C3, trying to build a debug apk

My game / logic / sprites are maybe a few MB. The videos I have are maybe 600MB (40 minutes worth, webm). What is the limit, and is there any way I can bypass it?

The only way I have been able to get it running successfully so far is as a NW.js app. Every other thing seems to be plagued with issues for some reason.

    Thanks

  • Nice! I won't need it for another year or so, but I'm glad it's here.
