  • It works, you are my new favourite human. Enjoy the coffee!

    Thanks

  • Try Construct 3

  • It doesn't seem to work out of the box.

If I open that template now, set the stage width to 500x500, the player is still able to go outside of the screen, and the camera doesn't follow. Eg:

    youtu.be/90HCW7Tu_Vk

  • Sometimes I will simply open it, go and do something, and it's crashed when I return. I have already saved a few of the error messages for when I report them.

From what I read, it's out of Beta, but it feels like an Alpha.

Is there an optimum way of using it? At the moment I've saved the icon to my desktop (as per the app's own instructions) and load/save files to Dropbox.

    For whatever it's worth:

    8700K/GTX1080/32GBRAM/Chrome/Paid subscription

    Thanks

  • I tried that. It doesn't seem to make a difference. I tried it with a camera too, as found in some tutorials, but the camera simply follows the player as they walk off stage.

Do you have an example file at all? Do I need to do anything to my stage?

    Thanks

  • Hello, I just bought Construct 3 today and I have a question that I can't find an answer to. I did find answers to C2, but the example file was missing.

    I have a layout size of 1280x720

My background is 2000x750, the idea is that my player can move left/right across the part of the stage that isn't initially visible/in view. Like Mario or any number of other platformers.

The problem is that when he hits the end of the stage to the right, he keeps walking, but it's off screen and the 'camera' isn't following, so you can't see him.

I have tried a lot of things but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

  • Will this be a fully fledged desktop version like with Construct 2? Is there an ETA for when the beta is over?

  • No sale then, I guess

    Thanks anyway

  • One odd thing I already notice - when I save the game, if I have a 40MB video file, it seems to save it all each time. Why is this? The video file doesn't change. As soon as I delete the video file it only takes a few seconds.

If the video size (of all videos together) is eventually 2GB, does that mean each save is going to be 2GB? It would seem so at the moment.

  • Hey

I started using Construct 2 in 2013 for a game I had to make at work. I haven't touched it much since.

After seeing Construct 3 had been released I fired up the demo to see how it handles video now. It seems to do okay. I have a lot of cutscenes I need to display over the game (while disabling game controls as they play). When a video pops up, you can pick an option, and then either another video plays or it cuts back to the game.

I have a few questions before I bite the bullet and purchase it:

    • Is it able to handle a lot of video? I plan on using hundreds of clips. Will it eventually crumble under the weight of itself?
    • Is the MP4 / OGV / WEBM thing still an issue? To my knowledge, all modern browsers play MP4s now.
    • Does Construct 3 handle video any better than 2?

Apart from that, I think it meets all of my needs.

    Thanks
