  • Hello,

Ok, thank you for letting me know.

  • If this is not a bug please let me know how to do so I can see the darned objects on layout view.

  • Problem Description

In my game I have a problem with some sprites going invisible on the layout view, that is the gui side of construct 2.

If you click where it was before it will either load up the editor for the sprites or crash C2.

I suspect this is a result of me editing names and deleting sprites as well as changing names of many variables in game.

But now I have edited down the game, removing basically everything but that screen and the problem still persists.

    Attach a Capx

    http://www.funnybunny.se/files/layoutviewbug.capx

    Description of Capx

0.5% version of my game, removing all non-essential.

    Steps to Reproduce Bug

Load capx. See the layout view. Run the game. compare!

    Observed Result

Some sprites invisible on the layout view. Sprite and Spritefont objects.

    Expected Result

Objects that are visible should be visible in Layout view.

    Affected Browsers

n/a but I use Firefox to preview.

    Operating System and Service Pack

    Windows 7, Sp1.

Nvidia geforce 378.66 released driver on 14th of feb 2017.

    Construct 2 Version ID

    Release 242, 64-bit version.

  • Fishing up old thread.

I have same problem. Partial disappearance of sprites in layout view.

I have Nvidia Geforce driver 378.66 and C2 beta 242. But i have had this problem on/off for a while now.

Sadly the zoom trick won't work for me.

When I load project I see the sprites for maybe half a second then they disappear from view. But they work when ingame. Not in layout view. Annoying as I need to edit them now in layout.

Yes I have looked at z-orders, visibility etc.

    EDIT:

Funny, when I went on clicking on the sprites where it "should" be C2 crashed!

  • rexrainbow I know. I just was wondering if you could create a new plugin for exporting. But I know it might be too much work.

  • Hello rexrainbow! Enjoying your plugins!

I have considered adding an ingame level editor to my game. I wonder if it is possible for you to create TMX-exporter to json files. Or maybe it is not good idea and too complicated?

  • Do not diss Apple devices as not worth develop for. I think it depends on where you live. In my circles there are almost only iphone owners seeing as I could imessage them all.

While it doesn't have many units seen from the world, you have to consider that the world population consists mostly of poor people. Poor people buying cheapest phones and maybe not afford buying games. Remember many buy mobile phones just to be able to communicate in country without infrastructure. Those would even use sun to recharge or go to recharge places.

In "richer" countries I think Apple devices are more popular and people more ok with buying games and apps.

Yes, it is divided world and different people ready to buy different brands. Apple has this more "luxury product" feel than Android phones. Something like comparing with Mac and windows pcs.

Construct 3 is open for osx now! So it would be nice to see more support for ios.

And no, I am not 100% defending iphone even if I have it. I really hate itunes!! But iphone/ipad is what we have here. I do not even pay for them, I inherit them. I am on iphone 5s, just got it "upgraded" from 4 few months ago. So there go the "rich" thing. I did buy my ipad 4 however. It is starting to feel old. It was snappy and responsive when it was new, but I guess ios is more bloated now. But I am not too keen to buy a new one just yet. I want to have a new camera instead and it cost about as much and is more needed in my works.

What do you think you do with C2 but use built in effects and behaviors that they designed in?

You just set the effect and behaviors and the engine does the rest. You don't create new effects or behaviors in C2 just use them through the settings.

That is just a natural progression to where game design is headed.

Actually there are some people that won't use any ready-made behaviour at all for the game engine (movements, logic).

What I like with construct2's event sheets is that you can make quite advanced coding there. (I just wish that there's alternative output other than HTML5, native exporters etc etc but this is futile wish)

  • i wish "someone" made a surface i7 with wacompen , a mobile 1060+ gpu, infinity touch display from dell and doesn't sound like a jetplane, i would finaly buy one,

And if it won't cost more than normal tablet (of nice range) and I will buy! I guess it will be possible in like 10 years.. But then the computer would be even better... The eternal chase.

  • Yes, this I hope so. That the plugin method gets better in all ways..

I am also hoping for some of the old but well beloved plugins to get "official" so to say, baked in and documented properly. Of course this has to be done deals with the plugin authors

  • I would suggest to wait for the beta at least. Not terribly long way left.

  • I never said C3 must go opensource after those "5 years", only that it could go to normal license, provided that Scirra has moved on to new versions for main income, so to say?

It is normal for old versions (and there's newer versions) to get cheaper so this might be the way for subscription software that get old and replaced with newer versions, these could get new type of license..

But yeah, it is really up to Scirra this whole thing.

  • We can at least hope when in like 5 years they want to make Construct 4 or go on, they will change the license to become normal license so there's no risk of inability to run your files.. Of course providing you download your files to your own computer from cloud if it get closed down. (providing there's truth to the 100% offline standalone mode)

Sometimes I do like to open files I made back in early 90s to see them. Harder and harder to do so.

  • Try Construct 3

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
