  • Tom is there a timeline for implementing 3rd party Behaviors by any chance?

  • Yeah It's quite hidden, at least we know where to find them now thanks

    I see there are some other juicy bits there...

  • What happens when the 4.5gb local storage runs out? I mean what will the user have to do. I suppose one can clear cache etc but you should then first upload to cloud and save or download the build before clearing I guess?

    Just something to be aware of.

  • Hi!

    Working on a new prototype, a TopDown shooter using Pseudo3D(Black walls like in teleglitch) and real 3D stuff using shaders.

    The lastest addition were a camera movement with lerp to the player and a difference when the aim is more close or far from player. Also the camera does a scale-out when player is running and the aim is far to have a bigger vision of the world-area. Also changed the player for one much better in 12 frames(pixel-perfect animation in 8x8)

    Actual gameplay:

    Very cool!

    There are thousands of examples and tutorials on the net and on the forum though with more being done daily.

    If it's between examples and new features / behaviors I'd take the latter every time.

    We hear you loud and clear RE monthly option. Right now as someone else guessed we're too close to change anything. We've had discussions in the office which we're all quite positive about where once you've paid for your first year you can then pay monthly.

    Again, this is only internal discussions at the moment, and there's no rush to implement this as we've got a lot of other things to be getting on with and if we did implement it it would take a year before anyone could take advantage of it anyway.

    Perfect and thanks!

    Finally!

    Happy to rent now!

    For the record:

    What will retain me more than game jams and examples are:

    More behaviours

    More plugins

    Better / more features

    Better performance

    More export options

    Advertising integration etc.

    Don't waste time on examples etc. Please.

  • It is nice to see that you plugin-developer-guys do this hell of an afford to get those plugins into c2.3.

    It is even nicer to see that you plugin-developer-guys work together to get that gd job done.

    Appreciated & Many Thanks.

    The lack of Plugins/Behaviours that will be in C3 also concerns me somewhat for now but, at least there seems to be some good work done by blackhornet and to make a converter that helps bring things over.

    I'm sure there will be some guys that will be getting C3 and do plugins/behaviours...I'm just not sure how many of the really great developers would be porting it since it seems a lot won't be paying the Rental either. Initially at least. Maybe it's quite compatible and it's trivial for the most part.

    It's going to be another story when the C3 runtime lands....then things change again and those plugs will probably have to be ported again? Yes/No?

    Looking at the track record through the C2 forums, it's not likely that Scirra would add many behaviours themselves. It's mostly left up to third party devs. It seems that users try and convince tirelessly on something that is needed and then getting responses why it's a bad idea then eventually a 3rd party option comes around.

    RexRainbow, RojoHound, Blackhornet and others have been instrumental there by the looks of things. If those guys don't get C3 for some reason it will be a real loss to those who do and to C3 in general.

    If I was Scirra i'd at least offer to give them the first year or two of Construct 3 for free since they basically add A LOT of what users want...no...NEED, to Construct.

    Hopefully I'm just being pessimistic here.

  • Wait a week or two? <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing">

    I realize that I don't have a ship date for Construct 3 ... the closest I've found is "summer". Oh, wait, summer is a-commin' in, Cookoo! It is mid-May and Summer is ... June?

    I want Construct 3 and I've never been patient. I'm more than thrilled to upgrade for a year at half-price, so take my money, Ashley!

    My main export desires are (in order):

    * Android

    * Amazon

    * iOS

    * Chromebook

    * Mac

    * Tizen

    * Windows

    * Ubuntu

    * Windows Phone

    Currently Construct 3 is in Beta.

    It will open up from some of the restrictions (50 events etc) on the 15'th of May to the 21st of May.

    https://www.scirra.com/blog/201/constru ... newgrounds

    THey state " the full release by summer" so one has to figure out which hemisphere they are at <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink"> Just give a date people. "Releasing this Holiday". "Releasing this Summer"....We are on the internet in a global world. Give us dates! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy">

    I suspect when that is finished Construct 3 will be available for subscription at $99 a year if you do not own C2 and if I recall correctly at $59 a for the first year if you previously owned C2.

    So no regular user has exported to those platforms with Construct 3 yet.

    Ashley mentioned that there will be a blog post soon on the NW.JS exporter.

    Maybe some news on the other exporters will be contained.

    Currently the export options looks like this. Although the Apps bit is not available in the Beta yet.

    There will be a build service for iOS and Android according to Scirra.

    >

    I havn't seen many people requesting Construct to become a full 3D engine, and I don't think it should become one either. But I think some form of rudimentary 3D transforms would be cool. Kind of like what you can do CSS, for flipping cards, UI elements, and rotating stuff in more than one direction, at most possibility to add some simple models like coins, pickups, etc in 2D games would be cool.

    And maybe at least taken into consideration for 3rd party plugin developers if they wish to do some 3D plugin.

    This.

    Some normal maps, some lighting etc for "2.5D" ish stuff.

    Plug developers could do a 3D plugin engine as other engines seems to have done.

    BUT...I would say esp w.r.t growing and building a businesss if they later get 3D experts and work on another engine perhaps rather.

    Construct 3D...keeping the two seperate.

    Anyway, I guess we just need C3 first <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing">

  • We have a blog post coming up covering this.

    Thanks Ashley.

    Just a bit concerned since I tested C2's on my Mac just out of interest and it doesnt work. Not too concerend about this now but I'm hoping C3's doesn't need "Windows"

  • How will the NW.JS export for Mac, Windows and Linux work in Construct 3?

    I see the option there (currently disabled in Beta) but I'm a bit confused on how it will work.

    In C2 I need to download Java and then run the exporter. Do the minify script option etc.

    I can't go further than that since i get a "Something went wrong" on export. I'm on a Mac though and trying to run it via Parallels. Might work fine on a stock Windows machine. So I can't really tell.

    Just interested in how this feature will be implemented.

    I'm especially interested how this will work or run on Mac. THe option is there to potentially also add an AppStore builder later using nw.js. Now that would be neat.

  • Dig that!

    Great job
