  • Welcome C Andre!

I know how you feel ... C2 is amazing make the old saying "You get what you pay for" not true because you get much more!

  • I haven't published an app for about four years (memories of GameSalad) but today marks the start of a new beginning.

I just published an app (first run for testing only) and all went as expected.

The file size is a little big at 26MEG ??? but, it is what it is.

I will spend the rest of the long weekend (Canada Day is Tuesday) to tweak and optimize and publish as much as I can.

Little Composers is on track again! YAY

P.S. I will sign up for a google play account shortly. This test was to download the apk file per email .... just to see if it works AND IT DOES! WooHoo!!!!

  • Caqtus

add one more "THANK YOU" for your explanation! I am planning to release something this weekend .... and if it works .... we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

  • yonda

THANK YOU for that answer. I am planning an app which (sort of) uses such a feature as well. V -

I have about 20 years of music teaching experience and my apps teach specific skills to help those who are struggling and/or in danger to drop out as well as those who are just beginning.

My teaching uses a little bit of everything but is mostly based on what I studied during my younger years.

Amazingly, HTML5 took a long time to arrive and get us to the point where we can develop all these apps for the children of tomorrow.

It is very exciting to be a child these days. All we had was primitive and crashing computers with a stupid operating system but now, things are different.

My apps are not quite ready yet but by the fall, Little Composers will lift off (fingers crossed).

  • Hi gang,

I get a lot of requests to include a "PLAY" button on some of my virtual instruments.

    Here is the thing ....

I use colored sprites which have a sound attached which plays upon being clicked/tabbed.

The user can drag and drop the sprites on screen and arrange them into a random sequence (drop at a random location).

Once the sprites are dropped, a student could just simply click on them to hear the new melody BUT, I am wondering what it would take to

    have the play-back quasi automated?

And while I am at it.

Is there a way to "store" (save) the sprite layout and reload it later??

    Just wondering.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I use C2 to replace Flash content (musical instruments).

If I had time like I don't, I'd love to make a little game but for now, it's just music education apps.

You can check the music apps at http://littlecomposers.com/learn.html

Sometime later this year, I am planning to release a special app which focuses on ear training for children.

What excites me most about C2 is that I have access to almost every platform there is (my apps don't need advertising etc.)

Like others have already pointed out, your imagination (and willingness to improvise) is the limit.

    C 2 rocks!

  • I record my audio in GarageBand and export a aiff audio file.

Then I open the *.aiff audio file with Audacity, select and export the region I need as:

WAV (Microsoft) signed 16 but PCM

There is a "Options" button but for the selected format, no options are available.

The weird thing is that at the beginning, it all worked without a hitch.

Anyway, I re-use most of my sound samples and by now have all the extensions I need.

Eventually, i will examine the .aiff file with GarageBand spits out and see if a different export format will work as expected.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

Btw: I LOVE C2! If it wasn't for C2, I'd still be making Flash apps which is a dead end solution.

  • Alright, there is a PROBLEM!

C2 no longer created .ogg files.

I just got my laptop back from repair (runs W7) and it did the same thing as the new W8.1 machine.

I am running the latest stable release 173.

Because I work a lot if audio (all my apps depend on it) this is annoying.

    What has changed??

Which website hosting service you use?

    I use "A Small Orange".

They are good, give me access to MIME Types but! I have no sound in IE (which means that I will have to address this issue soon and if it means moving to a new host, I might consider it.

I hear good things about bluehost, especially for WP driven sites.

I hear you .... a good book is hard to find. Speaking of hard to find. This book which I've mentioned above is the only book available right now and all I am interested in is to learn how to export my apps to as many platforms as possible (within reason).

I think that a few people who frequent this forum have it and hope to hear about how useful that chapter is. I can use all the help I can get.

    Thanks,

    V

  • Thank you TheDom

It looks like there is a practical use for twitter after all .... something new to try out.
