  • I want to make a first person dungeon crawler, pike Shin Megami Tensei, Just the map and movement mechanics; How would I go about doing that?

  • Ya'know the 1st person style of Shin Megami Tensei, the map and movement mechanics are what i'm talking about. how do I go about doing that correctly in construct2

  • Have one text as a source and then another text object for the text being displayed.

    Every X second -> Set text to left(SourceText.Text, len(DestinationText.Text)+1)

There's a working capx example by Ashley in this link:

Thanks a lot! This is pretty simple.

  • In RPG's or in any game, the text appears from left to right, is there a possible way to do that with construct2, I can't find a definate way besides using animations.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Unfortunately your answer still isn't clear.

Are you saying you have added a Sprite Object and are using that as your button? If so, the standard Mouse Object or Touch Object events would handle the click.

If you used the actual Button Object, then you must use the Button Object's own events.

The quickest way to resolve this would be for you to save your project as a single .capx file and upload it here, via one of the many free hosting companies such as Dropbox.

I figured it out, it was an event that holding me back, I don't get how but I fixed it, thanks for the help!

  • Did you use a Sprite as your button or the actual Button object?

If you used the Button object, then you would need to use it's own 'On Clicked' condition.

It's a button, not an object, and I am using a click function but it's not proceeding with the action.

  • Trying to make a button that goes back to the home menu, i'm using the demo version of Construct2,

it's the second button that was created and the events are in a group: "on button clicked: Go to this layout."

The button is not working, it's not even clicking in.

  • Hey Curio,

Add the mouse object to your project if you haven't already. The condition you are looking for will be "Cursor is over object".

    Looks like this:

    1. Cursor is over object (graphic) -> Graphic set frame (or animation) to = what you want.

    Next event below it

    2. Else (from the system menu - the picture of the cog) -> Same graphic set frame to 0 (or default animation).

This will change your graphic as the cursor moves onto it and flip it back when not touching.

  • K, haven't used Construct in a minute here but I need help with this since yesterday:

When mouse is over a graphic I want the graphic to change either to a new animation or to another frame, when mouse clicked on an object, etc, same when it is the opposite as well, i'm gonna need the graphic to change back, I've heard of using else statements but I guess i'm a tad too dumb to fully understand it and I need a little hand holding.

  • dont worrie you started well and seems you have a good idea of what you want, its just i dident seen enough details on why people should join.

    Thanks!

I knew I was missing something when I made it, but for the life of me, it wouldn't click.

  • what wold the team members get as a slice from the total outcome as profit? be careful what you answer, that will be decisive on what the intentions are, from a lot of people perspective that will want to join, and also keep in mind, most of the team members with the skills you ask for, they also can use Construct2!

What you bring to table? outside being the leader?

What are the pros and cons having you as a team leader?

    Simply put... benefits?

I need to close this poll, as well as explain it differently, I need a tad more experience as being a proper leader since I can't keep full cool, but I feel like I can plan properly depending on free time the certain "vollunteers/Employee" has, or even give out orders and help along the way, I was mainly going to deal with everything as others deal with their category, story, coding, art, music.

But i'm gonna need to put all of this on halt until I can do what I can to actually spend full time on this type of stuff.

  • Well, you should honestly not wait for Construct 3 but start building your games and team right now with Construct 2.

You should also be more opened/inclusive as how your are making the team.

I mean, everyone should have a say in the team's name and goals. If people are to work with no pay, at least let them choose to involve themselves in the various projects.

Even though any teamwork does indeed need a leader to make final decisions and orientate the whole team, each member of the team is an important part.

In your announce it doesn't feel so and doesn't really sound like a fun to be honest.

Thanks for the input, I really needed to know how to go about things, I think you're the exact guy I needed this answer from!
