  • Not to mention accents, or those with general imperfect speech. Speech recognition might work of you're catering to Nigeria, but for the rest of us... There's a reason why most big companies who've attempted to introduce it on their telephone systems (at the cost of many millions) have ditched it.

  • "plaster glitter glue over the rusting sump" - now that made me smile.

Thx, I came up with that on the spot.

"sword wielding girls" - now I don't object to everything

I wouldn't mind bikini clad sword wielding girls either, except it's flashing Mozambique hut being dressed up (or down) as if it's a castle. You just know that you're going to have the wrong creepy crawlies in your bed and the wrong type of females biting you (Mozzies in case you didn't know).

I don't mind violence in games, particularly when I play a violent game, but I've never heard of a game played for its swearing. Even if some don't mind it, others will, and you're simply reducing your potential customer base by having this, something which isn't even a feature.

And for your question, yes I've stopped playing games because of its swearing.

  • Can you use the show grid option under view? This would be the easiest way with clicking snap to grid.

  • Swearing in games is like sword wielding girls in bikinis, you just know you're looking at a 3rd rate game attempting to plaster glitter glue over the rusting sump.

  • I partly disagree Tarkion. The tutorials and search should be a new users first friend. If somebody doesn't even make the attempt, then why should anybody else lose their own time in providing help, when the person in question won't make an attempt to help themselves.

Of course, whether the tutorials or manuals could be better designed for newer players is another question.

  • :o

Then it will be tricky to be the 1000001th downloader

What would that gain anyway? After all, the special competition says 24 hours after the millionth download.

  • Maybe idiot spammers have made experienced forum members take more of a 'look at the tutorial' route.

Plus, there's still the need to login each visit issue. So maybe more than one possible reason.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Future Dr No, evil genius..., well maybe not.

  • Having your main programmer spending his days writing 'help files' isn't the most efficient use of his skills, or time.

  • Sorry, but flash???

Flash is the bi-word of cheap small 2 minute games. Personally, if it says flash, I won't even bother playing it, because I know it's just a 2 minute cheap boredom occupier.

Saying this, C2 could potentially benefit from having more than just one person working on it. C2 looks as if it's struggling with the concept of advancing from a hobby, to becoming a significant product in the marketplace. Simply put, C2 does need to make this step, else all it'd take is for something to come along that more friendly than YoYo, and it'll be dream over.

  • BluePhaze: I'd agree that ads probably aren't the best feature for the staff to spend time on to incorporate into C2. It's just the suggestion that anything which is in a 3rd party plugin shouldn't be worked on because it'd be a 'duplication' doesn't make sense, particularly when you also wrote that if an update frags a plugin, it's too bad.

Plugins of value should always be potentially utilised as source material for C2 (Note the word potentially). If something would be useful in C2 proper, than why not; if it doesn't require too much work. Why make jobs harder than they need to be.

  • It would be duplication of work that already exists in the many existing plugins and wrappers?

I'm sorry, but you've lost me here. You're saying, look, there's great features that really could/should be in C2, but let's not put them in because there's non-C2 plug-ins; but if an updated C2 breaks the plug-in/game, then that's just too bad.

This thinking just seems a bit like parroting an official line in the absence of sanity.
