  • never mind I figured it out...need to use the disable collision as an event not in the properties....

  • hi guys

ive got a couple of physics objects in my layout and am not wanting to collide with each other, so I disable collisions in the physics property but they still collide...is this a bug?

    thanks

  • hey gang

im trying to figure out how to approach what I need to do. Id like to create a game that has planks that are fixed in the center kind of like a teeter totter, but there will be many of them in parallel links...think of several planks in parallel one above the other each fixed to the background at the center with a pin or a revolute joint, and then links that connect each plank to the one above it at the ends....

I want to be able to have the player be able to control the position of this array of planks with a touch control and the goal would be to use the tilt of the planks to control a ball that rolls down the planks

it seems physics would be the way to do this, but I am having touble coming up with a way for the player to control the position of the planks...ideally it would be a click and drag kind of think but that seems to have problems when using physics......

    any thoughts?

    thanks

  • so can you do this same thing with using a physics revolute joint?

    thanks

  • when using physics whats the best way to click on an object to move it with a drag and drop style?

    thanks

    Dan

  • whats the best way to create a revolute joint between the object and the background? is it to make the tiled background have phsycis behavior and attach to that or to create a new invisible and immovable object that you can create a joint to?

    thanks

    Dan

  • exactly yes, thanks!

  • is this correct?:

when creating new objects with cloning you have a new "object" and when creating one with a control drag you create a new instance of an existing object?

    thanks

  • ah thanks!

  • hey folks...

thanks in advance....ive got an object that I would like to act like it was attached to the background but could rotate about the point it was attached. ive go that figured out with a revolute joint to the background object....

next I would like to be able to use the mouse or touch to control the rotation of the object...think of a plank nailed to the background in its center with one nail and i want to be able to click one end of the plank to drag and adjust its angle...

    any ideas?

    thanks

  • hi ramones

im not sure I understand...lets say I have a chain with 20 links..im not sure how putting the link object in a family allows me not to have them all as separate objects.

    thanks

    Dan

  • ok, thanks ill have to look into that...have not used families before...
