  • I'm more excited about html5 on smart tv's lol - imagine sitting in tv room, nothing on netflix's (lol) grab your keyboard/ipad/whatever and browse through 1000's of html 5 games. The future is a gamer's paradise.

  • Flash will eventually fade out. And as mobile browsers get better, and more hardware supports html 5 (tv, game consoles, etc etc)

    At the moment, Html 5, isn't flash - yet!, but it fast becoming it's equivalent. Lucky in today's fast paced world, the future is projected in months and years(1-2). Thereafter, know one really knows for sure.

    IMO <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • You can't build an array without wrapping your head around how it works/looks

    Think 3 dimensional.

    plantation-productions.com/Webster/www.artofasm.com/Linux/HTML/Arraysa2.html

    And when you understand, then its a lot of work and lots of testing to ensure that correct data is being stored, retrieved etc

    It doesn't always work out as you planned and requires a lot of trial and error. I've been busy for the last month on data storage and retrieval. Some data needs to be randomized, some needs to checked against multiple criteria, no duplicates etc etc etc and I have not even halfway done.

    Inventory systems are easy - wait till you have your hero accoplish tasks and check that those task are done in order to unlock/lock other tasks - lol.

    I haven't made a rpg, but what I've heard it is one of the hardest games to make - lol, don't worry, they say it's also one of the most rewarding.

    Check out C-7's game - scirra.com/forum/courier-play-now_topic62387.html

    For inspiration <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> Motivation <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> And help keep you see bigger picture <img src="smileys/smiley10.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Thank you, I think I'll stick with Construct 2 then.

    Lol, and the crowd goes wild <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Good choice, I decided on C2 over Game Maker recently and haven't looked back (And I really loved Game Maker) but C2 is more productive (you can get a working game in faster time.

  • you going to have to spawn new objects(sprite) on touch and set them to touched location right?

    Your question about to touched location:

    Off the Top of my head, can't say if it works for sure, but the recipe is here:

    Click on sprite - Set position type in X input box touch.X and do same for Y

    Something like that.

    scirra.com/manual/119/touch

    You gonna have to play around

  • Dictionary is simplier than array.

    slot1 = "text1"

    slot2 = "text2"

    etc

    Delete key "slot2" deletes entire slot2 entry.

    And you can get either the key or value so you can see if he has slot2 filled, or if he has cold coin

    Its super easy to understand

    Add key "slot3" value "text3"

    So we have:

    slot1 = "text1"

    slot2 = "text2"

    slot3 = "text3"

    Very simple inventory system. But arrays are better, but dictionaries are simple.

    Now that you watched video:

    This is pretty good: scirra.com/tutorials/614/array-based-inventory/page-1

    And so is this one:

  • MadManArts,

    Ignore fassFlash, I have noticed her/him/it in other forums and like Whiteclaws says - It is a troll, and I will add, rude and peeved about life in general.

    Found this the other day:

    scirra.com/forum/has-anyone-here-ever-made-an-ios-game-with-c2_topic66862.html

    Lists some games, and in forums somewhere another topic on making money with ios, and some folks have made a small bundle, one guy, I think said, he has recently published his game and it was the best thing he has done, paid for his mac, business version, and a bunch of other stuff, plus some.

    Whiteclaws: Mortar Melon - lol, what a cool game :)

  • spy84,

    I Agree - nothing wrong with making suggestions.

    QUOTE: no harm in asking - and it is a plausible request - a nice to have feature.

    I also understand where you are coming from. And I'm glad you understood what I was trying to say.

    I do agree with fassflash only in the sense that there are better softwares out there to do certain things. I don't agree with anything else she says. I don't like conflict and will say - her second post wasn't very cool at all.

    Nice - learnt something - thanks

  • spy84,

    I would agree with fassFlash, and I am not trying for a "smart answer", but here is reasoning.

    C2 has inbuilt functionality for quick touch ups, and brainstorming design (square box placeholder for ladder, enemy, etc) nothing fancy.

    Rather use other software that is designed for design editing "Game Assets".

    In order for C2 to start to incorporate design tools, it takes away from what it actually is.

    But, no harm in asking - and it is a plausible request - a nice to have feature, but my thoughts are where does the image editing tools end. I would rather have more game building tools, etc etc etc lol

  • Runs smoothly here too

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

    Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • try to PM CoffeeOD, insertcoin hasn't visited the site in over 2 months.

    I CoffeeOD, that should be fine. I'm sure he is very busy, so pm isn't appropriate for something like this. Too invasive on a persons time, which is extremely valuable. I respect that. So should be fine and if he has the time - then that is great, else, I completely understand. :)
