  • I just drew my characters, scanned them in, cut them apart in the computer and put some finishing touches on them before importing them into spriter. It must save a ridiculous amount of time over drawing each frame separately and, as has been pointed out, it's a steal at $25.

OK, so I think I did what you told me too and the walker movement still lags. Here's what it looks like now, does everything look right?

  • And then what will be after the else? These are both going to be sub events for the man, for each walker set bullet angle of motion even, right?

  • lennaert how do you insert the "else" function, could you be a little more specific. You're dealing with a true noob here...

  • It's directly in the set angle of motion to angle(Walker.x,Walker.y,Psi.x,Psi.y) part. I wonder why that's causing so much lag.

  • I've got the problem narrowed down to walker movement. It's something in the way they move...

  • When I click the profile tab in the debugger it shows how much processor each part of the layout is using. Nothing uses much until I introduce the Walker. I wonder if there might be some kind of problem with the spriter object...

  • Would you skype with me for a bit sometime?

  • Can anyone see any problems in my code that would be using a massive amount of processor power, especially within the "walker movement" category? For some reason, as soon as they spawn they drag the fps way down, each one cumulatively more so. Thanks!

  • Yes. I think it's a ridiculous value especially when you consider that 3D modelling programs like Maya will set you back $3700. There is still some integration of features to be done within C2 but, even now, it's a very helpful program.

  • I purchased Spriter several months ago and I haven't regretted it for a moment. I have corresponded extensively with Mike who has been extremely helpful and patient with a noob like me. Though not quite yet finished, it is a very helpful piece of software and I suggest it to anyone trying to do intuitive, easy animations--even complex ones. Thanks Brashmonkey!

  • So, in my game, "Psi," I am wanting to randomly spawn enemies just past the edge of the layout on a layer with parallax set to 0 so they won't waste processing power by being in the layout from the beginning. Does this sound like a good idea. Can anyone explain exactly how I'd do this? Thank you.

Here's a demonstration pic of what the layout will look like:
