    Ok, thanks!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • And another:

    RandomScrollingSound0

    RandomScrollingSound1

    RandomScrollingSound2

    RandomScrollingSound3

If foo audio object "Play by name" RandomScrollingSound&int(random(3))

newt, can you please confirm, will the "int" pick the last sound (3), doesn't "int" rounds down the numbers? I thought that we had to use "round" on these cases, because round is picking the upper values when the number is e.g 2.6, it will choose 3.

  • This is a way to do it with two blocks. I am afraid though that when you will add more blocks the logic will be much more complicated, you have to figure out a way to do proper picking of which block is neighboring which, and that is way over my abilities.

Maybe arrays will be the right way to approach this, but, as I never get bored to mention in every occasion I get, I don't understand arrays...

  • Can you provide a capx?

  • I see what you mean. I thing there is something wrong, it doesn't work for me either and sometimes it kills the page.

I think you should report this to Pode and R0J0hound, it's totally out of the scope of my knowledge.

  • Nickorama I am sure you and C2 will get along just fine Thanks!

Captain Thanks! The full experience is even better (IMHO)

  • The scroll-bar appears because the window size in your project has greater dimensions from your screen resolution+browser size.

Use Letterbox Scale on the Full screen on browser properties.

  • It's time for me to thank the Scirra team from the bottom of my heart for developing Construct 2. This wonderful software allowed me, a person hopeless in learning programing, to express my self thru an interactive creation. The work I speak of is tilted "Memories" and was my graduate project for the Department of Fine Applied and Applied Arts of the University of Western Macedonia in Greece.

I intended to make a proper presentation of the project, putting as much information about the developing process as I could, but for various reasons this has being halted from my part.

I want to share my work with you though and, even more, make a statement about what this software can provide to someone, even to people like me -that are practically useless in programming.

    Well,

    http://www.eli0s.com/Memories

    A short trailer:

A short description would be the following:

The work "Memories" is an interactive, audiovisual narration of an immaterialized, digital world, reflecting personal experiences and recollections. The viewer controls a paper-thin character as he unfolds an outline of thoughts and emotions, from my childhood until now.

"Memories" plays as a Platformer. Use "A & D" keys (or arrow keys) for movement, Hold "Shift" to run and "Space" (or up arrow) to jump. At any point you can change level by hitting "ESC" and choose one from the menu. The experience however is meant to be linear. For best performance and implementation of the Advanced Audio API use Google Chrome. Please, have in mind that this isn't an optimized application to run on tablets and phones, it is around 108 Mb in size and it runs most of the times at 60 fps on my 5 year old mid-high range computer, at full-screen with Letterbox Scale. So, a modern laptop or an average Desktop is recommended

I hope you like my work, I've put a lot of effort to it and it caries a lot of emotional charge. I especially want to pay my respects Ashley and thank him again, with his support and genius development skills I was able to express my self, so, yes, THANK YOU!

Oh, and check out the credits, I was sure to include all the forum members that helped me with their wonderful advices, add-ons and examples. Kudos to the Scirra community also!

    Elias

  • By clicking on the white (empty) area of a layout, you should gain access to it's properties. They will appear on the Properties Bar (I think of it more as a panel actually) on the left side. Make sure that it is enabled on the view tab, look for the check-box. It should look like this:

  • Consider making one of your layouts called. Prefabs.

Even in Unity you still need a defined object. The Objects bar on the right(or custom left) is not the same as Unity's Heirchy Tree. it's just tree of objects in the game. So a prefrab is just an indivdual object placed in a psuedo heirchy that isn't linked to anything.

However regardless of all of that. I do believe Ashley said it's on the to do list. However honestly it's so small and non factor and using a layout answer it. that it's not worth really putting high up ont he lsit

This is a fair comparison. Since this is in the to do list I am more than satisfied. I don't think it is something crucial either. It is just an other thing to keep in mind

Indeed... This is exactly my problem and I think its not so hard to implement in C2 but it seems that C2 creator does not want to implement it for some reason because this is not the first time someone discuss about this issue.

Now, I believe you're over-thinking this. I am sure it doesn't have to do with what Ashley want, I suppose it's more like a technical issue
