• The Windows 8 is useless for a Mac user like you and me unless you develop for it. It's pretty cool, but in the case of virtual machines it's useless.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Good News: I found a way of getting the zip file for testing on to my iPad, so I can now play test it without an internet connection. It still forced me to install iTunes though, refusing to let me simply drag-and-drop like EVERY DAMN DEVICE should. I swear, if I find a Genie, my first wish will be for that Genie to break Tim Cook's legs. He'll call an ambulance, and they'll answer "Oh, you want to go direct to the hospital? Sorry, but we'll have to insist you go through some completely unnecessary additional steps before we can do that. Drive to Texas and sign up for the ambulance transfer service, and then we can talk about getting you to hospital." I would need no other wishes.

Bad News: It seems there's no way of getting around the necessity of owning a Mac computer to publish games to iOS. My hatred of Apple continues. I have a friend with an iMac though, so hopefully I can just use his when that day comes.

Apple sucks nowadays, yeah. The only thing they still remember to do right after Jobs's death is computers, and they still aren't as innovative as they could be. Well, at least they are good. AND iSTUFF IS BULLSH*T! They are useless!

  • What are you trying to say? Are you trying to make a real money shop or an in-game coin shop with systems and.. many players... to sell on the store PFFFT WHAT?!

  • Ok thanks. I just realized that I only had 4 events that quoted player's hp, and that I can easily just remake it. But if I ever do the mistake of making Hero's hp as an instance variable and my project will already be too big for remaking the events I will do as you taught. Luckily, it made sense.

  • But the only object using that instance variable is the Hero. And when the instance variable is used just by one object, it's not just useless, but damaging to use the instance variable. I can use edit the whole event sheet, but I'm afraid that I will f*ck it up.

  • I thought Fez never used 3D and just had a lot of images for each of the 4 perspectives.

  • How can I transform an instance variable into a global variable? Long ago, I noticed that if you make a platformer game, add 3 hp to the main character as an instance variable and ways to hurt yourself, hurt yourself in one layout and then go to another layout, my Hero's HP will be 3, not 2. Now that I am remaking my game, I need to make my Hero's HP a global variable without remaking my event sheet everywhere it mentions Hero's HP. I tried to do the same thing in my other game and I screwed the game up, it's glitchy and not working.(It was a bad game anyway...) So, is there a way to transform an instance variable into a global variable?

  • I don't think I will use this. but you know, I can.(WE can!)

Portal. Some mechanics there are hard to be done in Construct. I will just put a list of these mechanics.

    1. Momentum. Say, we have 2 portals that can teleport to each other. The player, when going somewhere or falling will have some momentum. How can we save that momentum when going into another portal? The use of physics here makes me go

    2. Looking into portals. If you look at a portal, you will see what is going on the other side of the portal. Is there any way to use cameras that show their surroundings in a window?

    3. The teleporting itself. The teleporting by itself is not a giant problem(SET POSITION TO XX DUH DUH Y BLAH), but combined with momentum and camera problems it will require lots of thinking, if not updating the whole Construct 2.

Just google if you don't know what Portal is, it's a video game

  • So, what do you want?

Off-Topic: Firefox just ported Unreal Engine into HTML5! This must mean that soon enough(3 years from now or so) we will have Construct 3D.

  • By the way, this topic's number is 66699. Freakish...

  • If the object is on the bottom of the screen and not on a solid behavior, it will fall infinitely into the outside of the screen(margin). But since you put a behavior of "Bound to layout" to the Hero, he will still try to fall into the margin, but he can't since he is bound to the layout. To jump, place a solid underneath your Hero.

  • That seems like something an update would do! Yeah, stop doing tutorials.
