  • Hello everyone !

Maybe some of you already know the Inktober : artists post every day a draw they have done in the day. Each day have a theme and it happens all the month.

It inspired me to do a jam with the same concept : one game per day for Christmas !

    Yeah yeah im kinda crazy.

The jam will happen from December 1st to 24th.

The goal is to release one game per day following each theme for each day.

The official list of the themes will be shared the November 31st.

    What about assets ?

Making one game per day is really hard, i know it. So i asked my team to prepare some assets for everyone.

I will do a zip package which include graphics, sfx and musics. All assets will be under Creative Commons BY (read more). I will share the link on this topic the November 31st.

    How can you help ?

If you want, you can also share with everyone assets, put download links under this topic.

You can also give funny themes so i can add them to my list.

    How to participate ?

Everyone can participate, there are no winners, only crazy devs

If you don't release a game one day, it's totally ok, we are making games for fun right ?

If you publish games, please add #crazychristmas tag so we can find them easily (on Newgrounds and itch.io for example).

When the jam will start, i'll write an other topic so everyone can follow all the game released.

Thanks for your reading and i hope to see you sharing with us crazy creations !

  • Heya everyone !

It's been a long time right ? I had to work on my new website for Infokub Arcade.

Now this is done, i'm doing the mobile app for the same website !

Everything is done with C2 !

    Some screens :

I will post on this topic time to time when the app evolve !

    Thanks for your support

You can also check the website :

    https://arcade.infokub.fr/

  • Why posting it here when you have a dedicated forum for WIP ?

You will have more answers on that forum (ppl love WIP) than this one because here it's more about HOW to make a game and not WHAT game are done

When your project is published, don't forget to create a post in "Published creations" so everyone will know they can play your game

Now about your game, it look nice but you should clean some little things : the ships shouldnt go over the Interface, and the Up/Down arrow are a bit ugly when it miss the Left/Right ones, you should choose some other buttons in the pack IMHO.

    Thanks for sharing !

  • The better way to have ideas is to :

    • Play games
    • Having some constraints

Choose a theme from a contest/jam then try to find ideas

or play games from a jam

And sometimes, be far from the game making to free your mind, so things will come naturally.

I often use Twine to write stories, and some of them inspire me to make something with a better gameplay.

  • You can do anything with C2 because you can implement your own plugins.

So everything is possible, i've already done two plugins for my own needs.

But think about something : doing a website with C2 is not bot-readable so your pagerank on search engine will be super low.

But it will be cool for user experience. It was already the problem with Flash websites, the problem is still not solved even if you do your site with an HTML5 tech.

Your website have to be filled with structured text content.

Now to answer the first question, yes, this game can be easily made with C2, most of the effets are already inside the software, you will need great artists but it's doable.

  • Hey everyone,

With the recent polemic about Rasputin game, i noticed something with the forum :

As you see, the title of the topic don't fit with the answer title.

I'm not saying it's a bug but maybe it should be automatically set instead of written by users (but still letting the possibility to change the Topic title when you edit the first post).

I mean we won't have the possibility to set a title when we answer, and the "Re:" should be dynamic and not coming from the DB

    I hope i'm clear.

    Thanks for reading.

  • Hi everyone,

Did i disapear ? Yes sorry.

[quote:2b6j0mkw]15. Do you think that an in-app mobile browser war can happen ?

I forgot one word, my bad

But i got your point about the web browsers so i will consider you would say yes

[quote:2b6j0mkw]18. Don't you want to build your own in-app mobile browser ?

I asked this question (which looks like the one about mobile compiler) to let you answer about what kind of things you really want to master to be sure everything work the way you want

But i think your answer won't change alot with what you already said : things are already built and you are happy with what is provided

Thanks again for the nice answers. When the full document will be done, i'll publish it here.

    Have a nice day everyone

  • I haven't read already, but

    THANK YOU

When i'll be back home i'll work on it.

Here is it ! The full interview. I wrote it in a way that you can copy/paste it for answering. Thanks for the time you will spend on it

    DISCLAIMER

This interview is made for a research goal. The questions are oriented to know what is actually done about HTML5 and native apps, in particular for video games, accentuated around the mobile work. It is not made for thinking if C2 is a good or bad software. For this question i'll answer myself : C2 is a good software, with an open team and a very kind community. But they base their work on technologies which are always evolving and which are sometimes hard to deal with. It's what I will try to understand with this interview.

    INTERVIEW

    [GENERAL]

    1. How many years did you spend working with HTML5 ?

    2. Why did you choose HTML5 instead of an other technology ?

    3. Do you have some statistics about the devices where C2 games are published on (like Wii U) ?

    4. Does HTML5 fit all your technological needs ?

Do you feel frustrated sometimes to not have what you want ?

    [3D]

    5. Do you think HTML5 is strong enough to deal with 3D efficiently ?

    6. Is C2 ready for 3D game development ?

    7. Should HTML5 work on an easier 3D engine ?

    [MOBILE]

    8. Do you think HTML5 is a good way to make mobile games ? Why ?

    9. HTML5 isn't directly supported by mobile devices so we have to "convert" our games.

Do you think these converters are strong enough to deal with C2 games easily ?

    10. I know you stopped to work with Ludei and started to work with Intel XDK, why ?

    11. Even if the technology works well, I noticed it was hard to add plugins like Ads, IAP and other things due to incompatible versions for the most of them.

Did you know it and how can we prevent ourselves to this problems ?

    12. What is actually your favorite converter ? Why ?

    13. Don't you think C2 should have its own mobile compiler ?

    [BROWSERS]

    14. Do you think web browsers are easy to manage ? Do you still feel the "browser war" ?

    15. Do you think that an in-app mobile browser can happen ?

    16. Due to HTML5, you clearly depend on web browsers and in-app mobile browsers.

Is it easy to manage them to be sure to be compatible with all mobile versions ?

    17. Do you think web browsers implement fast enough HTML5 functionalities ?

What about in-app mobile browsers ?

    18. Don't you want to build your own in-app mobile browser ?

    19. Would you like to be available on some devices that aren't actually HTML5 compatible ?

    [MULTIPLAYER]

    20. Is multiplayer system well supported on web browsers ?

What about in-app mobile browsers ?

    21. How can you explain that there is not much Multiplayer games on Scirra Arcade ?

    22. Do you know some C2 games using persistent universes ?

    [OTHERS]

    23. For you, is HTML5 as powerful as a native app ?

    24. For you, can HTML5 be the standard for app development ? Why ?

    25. Can you tell us what do you plan for C3 about HTML5 work ?

    26. Do you know some other HTML5 game editors ?

    27. If an HTML6 would be planned, what can be your expectations ?

    Thanks for reading and answering.

Also, thanks for the people reading, reacting and supporting me
