  • Hey all, I just had a quick question, a few people mentioned to me that they couldn't get my game to load.

I asked them what browser they were using, and it appears they were all using Safari.

    Is this a common issue?

My players had similar issues playing my game: Bunker Down 2030 http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/641142

One thing we often forget to do in our rush to get a game jam done is optimization.

Read this and follow the advice and people should have less trouble playing your game on mobile and Safari.

I was guilty of miss using tilemap objects and having larger images with too much transparency in them. I cut stuff up into smaller sprites, and now my game runs on my shitty old ipod touch (slow...but it works now).

  • I was front paged for my game too! Super Congrats to you!!!!!

    Here is my little game.

  • So...I learned a very important newbie lesson. Don't forget to add the condition Button Is Visible to any On Touch Events....apparently I had a bug in my game "Bunker Down 2030" where fast clickers were executing a function more times than intended due to IBS (and no, not irritable bowel syndrome) but invisible button syndrome. ;P

Fixed it and updated it, but pissed off a bunch of players....my apologies to you all.

  • MMM...

When I try to play the game with my Android Smartphone, I get a "This Submission is not compatible with your device" message. should´nt it work?

I have followed all instructions from the Manual and tutorials (unless I have overlooked something).

    Any suggestion?

    (Thanks!)

EDIT: I figured out the solution.

Yeah I had the same problem.

If you have made a game that is touchscreen friendly you have to let Newgrounds know. Here is how:

You need to go to your game page, hit the edit button (upper right hand corner of the game) then in the HTML5 Archive click on Edit, set the width and height, but in Advanced you have to check Touchscreen friendly. Problem solved.

Also I had to play around with what setting to use for fullscreen - I think I wound up using letterbox scale, but not sure that was the best option. The first time I had it set to fullscreen off and that made the game not scale down on my ipod so...that was bad and unplayable.

  • Here is my Entry. This was such a great experience and I learned much!

  • THANK YOU FRAGFATHER!!!!!! I have been stuck on this for days and I'm trying to make something for the Newgrounds Future 2030 game jam. Thanks for the extra event saving tips too! This C2 community has the best people in it!

  • Hello all, I am trying to create a touch game in which touching/clicking on various open job location sprites will assign a worker to that location. The job sprite instances have a boolean instance variable called Occupied. When the player clicks on an Un-Occupied job, it will become Occupied and change animation frames to show that the empty space is now occupied. The player only has 4 workers to use to assign to any of the 6 jobs, so I have a Global variable called JobsAssigned which keeps track of the number of workers assigned and that updates the WorkerCounter sprite to show the player how many workers he still has available.

I have this part working but I also want the player to be able to unassign a worker from a job and have the WorkerCounter and JobsAssigned update as expected.

I have tried this a bunch of ways and I think I may not fully understand how the touch object works or how sub-events resolve themselves. And yes, I have read the manual entries. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink"> Please help!

The .capx is attached but you can also download it here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/636 ... eeded.capx

Thanks for any guidance or corrected .capx you can provide.

  • Thank you newt!

For others looking to do the same thing: Just select your Tilemap object in C2, and in the TileMap Object window, chose to save as type Tiled projects (*.tmx). Then you can run Tiled Map Editor http://www.mapeditor.org/ and then load that up and Save As Image.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I would like to be able to save out a full size tilemap object as a single image. Is there a way to do that? Or can someone make a TMX to png converter or something? It would be so nice to be able to bring an image of my entire level layout into another art program.

  • I have played and rated all the games on this Forum thread so far. I'm just so happy that C2 has given someone like me (with very limited code ability) the tools to learn and improve and get to the point where i could even consider entering LD! Good work everyone and congrats!!! Hopefully there will be more entries posted here by the time i wake up.

  • I just submitted my "game" for the Solo Compo. My first game jam ever. Couldn't have done it with out Construct 2. Although this is just a baby step in my journey to become more competent with code, feels great just to complete something.

My entry is: You Only Get One Ludum Dare 28 (currently on page 2)

    Under the name: AKo

    You can play it here:

Share your info when you're all done! Looking forward to playing everyone's games!

  • DUTOIT I kid you not. Yahoo Web Hosting wont serve certain files. Here is what they will support.

    help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/smallbusiness/webhosting/gfiles/gfiles-24.html

My website used .FLV files and suddenly the movies just stopped playing. They just stopped supporting them and never informed their clients. Horrible practice. I can upload the files...but they don't serve em. YES Stay away from Yahoo.
