  • Yeah you can keep it a separate object so that you can have different weapons. Here is an example, expanding on a topDown.capx example I did last night for

The sword follows image point 1 of the player, every tick. During the attack animation I simply move move image point 1 of the player.

  • Hi Brian,

Just browse among the behaviors and you see that there is a shadowLight object. When you write: "I really want the game to look alive and immerse people into it's world. ", this can of course be done in a number of ways, but this will partly be up to the art you put in the game. I've made an example that should get you up to speed using 8-direction (use arrow keys). I've added some of the things I would use if making the game like:

    • Tilemap,
    • sprites with shadowCaster and solid
    • easy day/night system (never under estimate the Sine behavior!).
    • a simple fire to show off the shadows
    • a basic water effect

I really hope you and any one else stumbling upon this get something good from it.

  • Hi,

You cannot disable solid collision for 8 direction objects in any easy way, to let them wrap. There are how every plenty of other options for you. I took the liberty of coding up an example for you using the bullet behavior as enemy control (you can slow down the speed and make them turn towards an object to have them more like ai-enemies. This way you have the option to let them Bounce of solids or simply let them pass. I also added the wrap behavior to them. There are quite smart things you can do with the Sine behavior which I've learnt during the past years. I'm not really sure it will suite your needs (I just guessed given the bit of code and sketchup I saw). But I've added two sine behaviors to the "cannon" one for the horizontal movement and one for the angle movement.

So hope you get something good from this

  • ludei woho! I'm looking forward to trying out the new beta! Can you speed up the beta invite processing for borgenvik.david{a}gmail.com?

  • Well put DUTOIT!

Let's hope that they give us the possibility to remove/replace the splash screen while they are at it!

  • Hi,

I've made a level chooser template that is perfect for multilevel mobile games. The user can use swipe to browse between and select levels. You can check it out here: https://www.scirra.com/store/royalty-fr ... ector-1006

It has a simple unlock method that takes the layout name as param, that I think would suite your needs. Check out the videos from the link above and try the demo to see if it is interesting. Good luck with your project!

  • Sounds like we have a new phonegap build challenger! If anyone manage to get an invite and test it please write about it here.

  • This is where it get interesting:

    "Cordova compliant

The new Cloud is completely compatible with Cordova, which means that you could take your existing Cordova projects, compile them in the Cocoon cloud and they will just work. You can use any Cordova/Phonegap plugin in your project in an easy way using our plugin management system. You can also sign your applications uploading your certificates and you will get a signed application for iOS an Android. Simple."

    https://blog.cocoon.io/cocoon-beta/

  • The problem seems to persist still, I recommend downloading and using cordova locally. Once you've got it running you will be able to build you projects quicker than with phonegap build (imo). I'm considering creating a program to help construct 2 developers use cordova locally instead of beeing stuck with phonegap build. But I'm not sure how big the interest would be though. If I get around to building it I'll probably upload it to the scirra store.

  • Swipe level selector — Now for sale in the Scirra Store!

<p>Swipe level selector is a great way to kick start a game that will have multiple levels. It implements an unlock-level-system, using the new official localStorage plugin. The swipe system let's the user swipe left and right to browse between all levels, with a great iOS native feel to it. </p><p>If you want you can easily customize the look and feel by simply replacing images. The event sheets come fully commented, so that it is as easy as possible to understand the code.</p>

  • Hmm I made a template for browsing and selecting levels with swipe, I think it may work for your needs as well. You can try the demo and watch the videos here: https://www.scirra.com/store/royalty-fr ... ector-1006

  • Since construct 2 version202 the webstorage has been deprecated and superseded by the new localstorage plugin.
