  • I haven't tried CocoonJS I'll give it a try later, thanks

  • ok thanks, yeah it's for mobile phones, works great on my RAZR i with Phonegap but on others like the Galaxy 2 lags like hell to the point it's unplayable. I read the blog post about Android 4+ using Chrome which is possibly why it's better on my phone. I'm just looking at ways to optimize it as it's difficult to tell testing on my phone as it runs ok and I there are no other phones readily available for me to use as test devices.

  • I hope so but they still have physics attributes attached to them so would there still be demand every cycle or only during the moments they are interacted with by other moving physics objects i.e. ball bouncing off a wall?

  • Hi, I'm curious, Do objects with the Physics attribute set to immobile use as much processing power as objects using Physics not set to immobile? I have an object using physics and for it to bounce off stuff I have to set the physics attribute to just about everything else so instead of say one object with Physics I need 50 or so.

I've read just about everywhere to keep Physics to an absolute minimum yet I'm in a catch 22 where I only need one object to have physics but am forced to use many. Any tips suggestions would be welcome or is it really necessary if immobile physics objects hardy use anything?

    Thanks,

    Jay

  • Try Construct 3

  • Yeah it's fine honestly, I don't mind, it was just finding my game on another website my initial thoughts were that they had nicked it and I thought they were cheeky in doing so. After realising that it's legitimate it's ok.

  • hehehehe, yeah I saw it and thought cheeky b****** and automatically thought it was stolen, I'd forgotten that the terms of upload to Scirra mean other sites can embed your game.

It raises the profile of my game and my website so it's really a good thing it's just initially I thought it was done underhandedly.

After all the main thing is that people are enjoying something that we made and that is the main thing.

  • Ah right, well in that case I don't mind, I thought someone had done this underhandedly.

    I feel a bit stupid now for moaning <img src="smileys/smiley9.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • I just found this:

    jeje.net/virus-vector

It's a game I put together and these guys have lifted it and put it on their site without my permission. I wouldn't really mind so much except they have plastered ads over it. Fortunately they've just lifted it and haven't changed the images with my website address on it so I could end up getting some extra traffic from it but the point is I don't want them hosting my game like that.

Is there something in construct that can tie a construct two game to a particular URL so for example if it isn't running from a particular domain it won't run at all? I don't want to spend ages developing a game then someone nicks it and changes as few of the graphics so it looks like they made it.

  • cool thanks, I've played around with the brake a bit and think I've come up with a method that I think keeps the game challenging but at the same time makes it fairer to play.

  • Hiya, I've taken on board what was said about the inability to slow down/stop so have added a brake to the game, if you press the down arrow you can now stop although only for a short time.

Let me know if you think the Brake feature makes the game better or worse to play? Also any other feedback is greatly appreciated, I do hope you enjoy playing this game it took me bloody ages to make ;-p

  • Thanks all for the kind feedback and nice words :) I'll have a think about the controls, I tried many different control types and found this method the easiest to control from a computer keyboard (and future portability to touch devices), You can kind of stop by holding down one direction which puts you into a spin and holds you in place, also you can rest against the walls.

I want to make a game that people enjoy playing so if the lack of being able to slow down is detracting from that enjoyment then the game isn't as good as it could be so over the weekend I'll have a play and see if I can come up with any improvements without compromising the simplicity of the gameplay and controls.

Again thanks for your feedback it's really appreciated.

  • Hiya, I just uploaded my latest game to Scirra Arcade, please have a play and let me know if you enjoyed, found it boring, too easy, too difficult etc.

    Thanks
