I'm pretty sure this will come with the IAP :) CJS built a open IAP infrastructure to support multiple stores. So for them it's likely and easy tinker. With C2, using the plugin. It's likely to also be well supported :) we are heading to the horizon of a new world :) let's see what we can make of it :)

    Ouya Score: 62 "pass on"

I replied here as it was a more relevant non thread derailing thread :)

  • This is a reply and expanded thoughts regarding the Ouya. Inspired by another post from. I bring it here because it's more appropriate :)

    Ouya Score: 62 "pass on"

There is a another thread on the forum concerning the Ouya where this post would be more appropriate. We are not here discussing the the merit of the console, but export support.

If the information included relevant information for exporting as in say "the Ouya reviews aren't that good, may not be a console that needs supporting" that at least has relevance.

Finally, for the important aspect. Export to the Ouya is important and it's not the reason that it's specifically for the Ouya; at least not too me. For me the Ouya is an entry point for Android console based gaming. Android is making an incredible market penetration, phones, tablets, but also moving towards TV devices, and even Android TV's. Will it be ever predominant OS. I can't say for sure, but the momentum right now is there. This means that Android in a twist could end up being a basic OS for TV's as much as Windows was for PC's.

Ouya is the first to sell the idea of the Android TV Game OS. So it really doesn't matter what the Ouya ranks now. it's the fact the movement has started and it's better to be there early, than later.

This then means Ouya export is important and it's exciting. This is the frontier of potential. This is where most say, meh, not worth exploring the new world. It's uncivilized, lacks cities, structures. But for the dreams, it's a world that can be defined and created. Where the current rules do not apply. As an example the entire structrual market on the IOS is nothing like is on the PC. yet year by year the quality of games goes up in the new structure. New companies are formed and can flourish. And drown of course :D

So the reply of "Pass on it: 60, with a link" and no opinion. I'm sure you can write more :)

  • We're working with Ludei on Ouya support including controller support. Hopefully it will be available soon.

    Ashley

Wait what????? This is not news I have heard before. Well then this is really super exciting. I know you normally can't go into details. But is it possible that one of the reasons CJS WebGL isn't out because of controller support coming with it?

  • CJS does not support controller input at this time. However, some one who visited CJS and talked to them did find out that they have an Ouya and are working on support. So with Ludie speed of updated, maybe 6 months :|

oh, I forgot to ask. Since you did a piece of art. How would you like to be listed in the credits for the game. Name, website, nickname?

  • Well good news then. I guess that leaves Sony the odd hardware out.I really don't hunt down news on these consoles any more. They are far too iterative and don't offer anything to the game industry except XGame 4. Most of my news mostly comes from this site NOW :D

So thanks for the tip :)

  • That looks a lot nicer and easier to read. Has a much nicer flow.

In the initial picture, what are those objects I'm suppose to see? because what I'm seeing I would not rather than mention. But it could be just me.

  • That's because "scpaebar" " " doesn't require a special code to catch. unlike the Carriage Return wich doesn't have a definable text output; the space bar does; a " " space.

So it really doesn't need it. Though I understand that it can be an oversight. it's overall pretty small and would require an exception on input. it would add more code where it's not needed. Though it's pretty tiny amount.

  • So far only Nintendo is supporting game capable WebKit, but Joannesalfa has pointed Nintendo isn't really being very open with Scirra at all. Why, I have no idea. Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. Maybe because Scirra doesn't have anygames?

As for the 4One, the Webkit for both of those as I understand do not include many of the advanced Canvas or minimal features C2 requires.

By other security/logins, do you mean clay.io could work well? Like what if we somehow got this working with it's multiplayer room feature?

As one solution yes, you could also use Google, FB, Twitter... Clay.io is one of them.

The problem is that the client will login with clay.io(not sending pubnub login info). but then how does the server(ie your server logic) get data from clay.io. It can't. the server is not authorized.

    Which means

    client logins in to clay.io

    client recieved pertinent information

    client sends pubnub info

pubnub sends info to EVERYONE including specified server

    server does processing

server sends 1 client data update to pubnub

    pubnub sends to EVERYONE

the target client process, other clients ignore

the solution is that clay.io upon a successful login. Can give the client a temporary passkey. The pass key can be used to access the players data relating to the game.

    client logs into clay.io

    client received info and passkey

client sends passkey to ..... pubnub

pubnub sends passkey to ..... everyone :(

yeah. I suggest using pubnub just for channel meet up and play. I would do everything else using Clay.io. including room managegment :)

I'm not saying not to use pubnub, just know what pubnub should be doing, and not doing. :) otherwise it looks great for a mix of clay.io + PubNub. great combo here :)

  • Free to get, pay for perks. That's the model that provides the largest user base surge, yet gives the best opportunity for long term.

Visual Studio and such tools mostly succeed to a monopolization and training. C2 isn't the only system, nor is it the mostly widly used. They are best suited to stick with what they have, but push the use of an asset store. I'm hoping when modualrity comes into play. That the asset store can become finanancial beneficial for Scirra.
