  • era, this might not be exactly what you're looking for, but you can replace the C2 icon that displays when the game starts loading (before any loader layout):

In the project bar click on the "icons" folder - you'll find a bunch of C2 logo icons.

You can replace all of these with your own icons, although loading-logo.png is probably the one you're after - just be sure to make the dimensions and filename the same.

Thanks for the input! I remember this from way back when i was doing browser based stuff, but really searching for a better understanding how C3 goes about all of this for mobile. This goes a long way at least, thanks.

For now i'll play around with the letterbox/splash color and make it somewhat work for the specific project.

Does not solve the "problem" though, so hoping for more in-depth information on the topic.

  • I want to set up a custom loading screen for a mobile project. Nothing too fancy, just a logo and a simple loading bar, that goes to layout X upon project load (assets, sounds etc).

I've searched through various tutorials and forum posts but can't find anything specific on this. I've also tried to play around with the startup fields in project settings, loader layout and whatnot.

I'm searching for a deeper understanding of how this works. Must there be a splash screen for all Android apps? What about iOS? Is there a default splash screen when exporting through C3? How can i edit this? And how do i set up my custom layout to show loading progression? What will a somewhat big project even "load"? We're not downloading assets when it's an .apk i guess, but i believe we want to load what's necessary to memory?

I guess i just know very little on this subject, and would like some clarity on how these things work and what we can control.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,

  • NotionGames looking forward to seeing your games at the PSN then! :)

Blacksmith I'll definitely look at the possibilites of doing it myself when the time is right!

  • Hey! I recently attended the Nordic Game Conference, where Sony had a few lectures, and i got to speak to some of them.

Technically, now we can all get our games on the PS4 - even with Construct 2.

Earlier the developer needed the proper tools and SDK, with a painful road from prototype to PSN - generally a messy system. Now however, you can send a pitch/design document, along with a demo (any platform). So basically if you have a really awesome project made in Construct 2 you can send it to Sony for approval.

Problem is of course, you'd still have to port it if you got the green light. What I'm thinking is that, if you get that greenlight from Sony on your C2 demo/game, there shouldnt be a problem to get the amount of funding needed to port it, or even get some programmers do it on a hobby-basis. Who wouldnt want to participate in a project due to release on PS4?

What do you guys think? I see it as a possibility, of course not a seamless alternative, and definitely not for everyone - but Sony is basically giving "everyone" a shot at a spot within the PS4 library of games.

  • Hey! I need to gather some data on player behaviour for a game that will be on a public stand, and i cant seem to wrap my head around arrays, dictionary and all these related (?) objects.

Basically i have 3 buttons on a screen. I'm keeping track of which of these buttons the players will click the most, and this data must be saved in a txt, xml or json file - as long as i can gather the data later.

The project will be exported for offline use (Node-Webkit). The optimal would be having something that adds these values to an offline file in real-time, but a simple triggered action to save a file with the values would also be ok.

    Example of desired output:

    Button 1      Button 2       Button 3

    1             1              1

    1             1              etc

    etc           1

                  etc

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • I really like the art direction! Keep it up!

  • Looking good :) Best of luck to you and your project!

  • Hey, i have the same error with one of my jam games, but only when exporting to web. Have you tried exporting via Node-webkit (offline .exe)? If it loads as intended there, and not when exported via HTML there must be a bug with Construct 2 perhaps.

  • jogosgratispro You cant play the game right now. However, when its ready for playtesting you may playtest it if you'd like. Just send me an e-mail, and you'll get the latest version!

  • Video coming very soon! :)

  • ... No , I'm seriously willing to buy your hand ...

Whiteclaws Hah, i'll take that compliment! Thanks :P

Really nice work man, probably the slickest game I have seen from C2 so far!

What resolution are you creating the game at? Is the character animated in Flash or a 3D app, as there is a very convincing 3d-ness to him? Loving the graphic/audio design as well...

zendorf The resolution was 800x450 i think. The character was animated in 3Ds Max! Thanks for the kind words.

Why didn't you upload to Scirra arcade?

jogosgratispro The game is far from optimized as it was a jam game created in just a few days. The code, as well as the assets are very.. messy. This resulted in the game being buggy when exported to HTML, and very huge (30-40MB) - i think the limit to the arcade is 10MB.

  • Glad you like it!
