  • I don't' have a specific improvement request besides the classics, speed and compatibility improvements.

But I'm not asking for improvements on the exporters. I know your positions with the technology and I have no Idea If there is space for improvement

I was just wandering if the export (.exe) is happening locally on your PC like on C2 or on the cloud.

And if it happens on the cloud what's the time it takes to export big projects..

    [quote:m13d5w7c]New features ahoy!

Once the architectural work is done and projects are able to be ported, we'll have a much faster and better base to build major new features on top of. We're keen to address many long-standing requests with the new runtime. Some of the new features we'd like to build on it include:

Modular event features, aimed at capabilities like building plugins out of events

Advanced rendering features like mesh distortion

Rudimentary 3D capabilities like adjusting the Z height of a sprite, and exposing more capabilities to the SDK

Sub-layers for advanced lighting and blending effects

Sub-layouts for embedding other layouts, creating split-screen views and more

    Redesigned first-class support for functions

A built-in color filter feature similar to what we had back in Construct Classic

A set of new plugins ranging from custom drawing canvases to integrating HTML content

Add lots of long-standing plugin requests like rotatable 9-patches, scale and rotate Tiled Background image, and more

    Even more ideas in future!

I'm not sure exactly what this means, but this seems to me like.. "I would love to help you out so u can make 3D plugins or whatever but this isn't at all my priority right now" which seems fair enough

  • Hey Scirra I'm wondering..

Are there any improvements for the desktop export on C3 over C2 ?

Does desktop export utilize cloud services on C3 ?

If yes ,are there any test stats that you have bench-marked the export times of big projects like Next Penelope ?

    Thanks in advance

    My personal opinion.

A game engine markets itself by the games that have been created with it. Nothing else really works as effective as that.

You Scirra are currently losing faith from the people that create these "serious" games.

We were obviously expecting some users to not like the model.

I thing the majority of them are the ones I described above :/

Having said that, we do have a feature-voting system planned anyway but I am going to strongly caveat it with warnings that "votes are not a guarantee of implementation", for exactly the reason we had with multiplayer. Also I can easily imagine things like 3D becoming #1 voted features, and there are a wide range of reasons why we're holding off on that.[ > 1) An smart Idea might be to create a REP based voting system. 30.000 rep = 3 votes or whatever, getting significantly less unexperienced and emotionally driven votes

    2) Rep locked forums for specific feedback

Generally, it's as good as the browser engine is.

Maybe this sentence on your marketing banners with an asterisk

Yes, lots on the way here, as announced.

Everyone hopes this works out well, plz be more transparent

  • stefanos,

Although I agree that it would be awesome to have 3D in C3, I don't think questions like this that are designed to elicit an angry response are helping our case.

Ashley and Tom have been pretty clear that they are trying to keep the scope of this project manageable. You and I have both being using the C2 for a long time, and we need to respect their decision to not risk breaking C3 by promising features that they can't immediately deliver.

I was probably too emotional i don't want to sound rude. But still, I want to know what are they thinking for C3. From what I read on the forums most of the"veterans" seem disappointed. Cause I assume they love C2 and they would happily love C3 if there is a purpose of its existence. I don't believe everyone is a 13 year old who cant understand whats feasible and whats not. But people like me are disappointment (I believe) because Scirra spend so much time on features nobody really needed that much (with some exceptions).

I just want to clearly understand their view. I respect their work and time and I love C2 for what it is. But If C3 inst what many of us dreamed to be at least open all the doors so we can create/mod it ourselves.

  • Both Construct 2 and Construct 3 already use 3D contexts and just render 2D content in to them. There is far more technical work to do to enable 3D rendering though, and right now that's not a goal of the product.

I'm too using 3D on C2 and serves many purposes on 2D projects too.

Hello Ashley, My name is Costumer and I'm so disappointed with C3 announcements right now.

Maybe my mistake not choosing unity in the first place but you know the standard. Great visual scripting and logic on C2.

I kiss my main project goodbye though :/

Besides crying, I have a question.

I don't understand, The creator of the biggest game with C2 (Next penelope) moved to Unity and u seem to not care at all.

Do you care to have great games with C2/C3, a million flapybirds clones, or you see it like an educational tool ?

, and right now that's not a goal of the product.

    Whats the goal/plan ?

  • > Random idea ( U know what would be awesome ?, Scirra to make a unity plugin with their visual approach charging 150 per year. No problem there. I would happily depend on unity's devs faults rather than ludei, intel etc..)[/size]

    >

Random idea, my butt I already stated this idea in another C3 thread.

lol Maybe I saw it there I'm not sure, either way it's not going to happen, lets hope C3 or GameFlow unity's plugin gets even better

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I'm too wondering about C3, Most of the blogspots coud be an C2 update changelog but they market it like Features. I don't say they are bad, they are more than welcome but I feel (and that's just my opinion) that C3 seems more like a gimmick marketing/business plan than a professional approach. It seems like they made a mistake to not charge for the C2's big updates and they need some money back. I don't know though, I hope I'm wrong.

Random idea ( U know what would be awesome ?, Scirra to make a unity plugin with their visual approach charging 150 per year. No problem there. I would happily depend on unity's devs faults rather than ludei, intel etc..)
