  • Are you saying you want to be closer up? (still be top down?)

Or you want to drop it down, and make it 3D?

I would highly not recommend 3D right away, but Q3D does let you go 3D...

    Hi!

Thanks for answering. What is Q3D?

  • Hi!

I've started to play around with a tutorial where you basically control a player and shoots down monster who spawns randomly around you. The camera view is top down. I would like to "lower" the camera so that it is more behind the player, compared to the straight top-down-view as it is now. Is this possible to fix?

    Thanks!

  • Hello!

So, many aspects work together to form a successful games. One of them is graphics of course. When looking around on previous Construct 2-made games I see many different themes/styles and they all look awesome .

My questions is how the different styles are being made? Which software is being used?

    /S

  • C2 comes with nothing basically It's like an empty canvas where you put everything in the way you like.

It's up to you to decide what kind of art style you want your game to be and then start working on it.

If you never use any graphic software in the past then it may be a little hard to start with. I would say you should start with using some free sprites (just google them) and work on your game logic. You can always change your assets later.

    Hi!

    Thanks for replying!

Regarding the graphic software. The games I mentioned in my first post - I guess they have designed their own graphics? In which programs is this being done?

Thanks for the tip about trying out free sprites, really appreciate it!

  • Hi!

I've just started messing around with Construct 2 tutorials. Like others (I think) I dream big, and that I one day will create a game that will be an international hit. Well what do they say - aim for the stars and reach the tree-tops?

Anyhow, I've checked out some Construct 2-made games like Airscape: the fall of gravity and CoinOp Story (I'm not allowed to post links yet). I think the the graphics are so "cool" and soft.

So my question is if Construct 2 comes with different graphic-themes? Or is it up to ourselves to "design" the graphic that we like - if this is the case, what programs are being used (Photoshop?)?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hello!

So the last couple of months I've started programming, mostly in Python. The reason is that I, of course, want to learn programming. But I know that I eventually will start with game developing. I know this is possible to do in Python, via for example Pygame. But what I can read on the internet, using a game engine like construct 2 sounds a little bit more clever. But there are so many engines to choose from like Unity, Unreal Engine, Construct 2, and so on (check for more engines).

The "problem" is, I want to learn programming and when i read [quote:ddlkyjaq]You can now make advanced games without writing a line of code. Construct 2 does the hard work so you don't have to.

at Construct 2's website, I'm not really sure I've come to the right place. But then again I totally understand that Construct 2 does one a favor with these "built-in" functions so you don't have to "hard-code" them, and I dont wanna code "just because". But I still want to learn, so to speak.

A question about that to, since so many things seems to be already built in, is it hard to combine the game with "functions" outside the game? - let's say I want my potential players to create an account using a website, and that they will have to use the created account to login when they've started the game (.exe). Is this possible?

What about the graphics in Construct 2? Games come with different styles - from more realistic to more cartoonish, is it possible to get a decent unique style in C2? Or is it like you got 10 styles to choose from?

Why choose Construct 2 over engines?

    I truly appreciate your answers!
