  • pirx Native applications depend on libraries as well so no method is completely future-proof. I once run into a native educational software that needs Windows XP to run since it simply won't start on newer OSs (even with compatibility mode). An other example is playing old GameMaker games (made with versions prior to 7.0). They won't start either on a Windows 10 machine.

    What I'm trying to say is that HTML5 is a well established open standard developed by multiple companies (unlike Flash). So if you're looking for solid technology that can last as long as possible, HTML5 is one of the best (if not the best) bet.

  • It's definitely planned to use your subscription offline, but we need to do a bit of architectural work first. I can't give an ETA but we hope to have this available soon.

    That's good news. Will it support educational licenses as well (many schools don't have a reliable internet connection in my country).

  • My humble opinions on this topic:

    • I like the event based visual programming much better than the node based GameMaker uses. So if you plan on developing with visual programming then I'd go for Construct 2/3, GDevelop or ClickTeam Fusion.
    • If you want to learn a programming language then I think you'll be better off with a language that is used elsewhere as well. So learning GML might not be the best choice. I'd go for Unreal Engine 4 (C++) or Unity 3D (C#) for that.

    This all depends on your current experience as a developer. If you are a beginner, then take alvarop advice and spend a few weeks developing a small project in each of the engines you are interested in to see which one fits your needs the most.

    Tom While it doesn't concern me personally, I think you should edit the latest blog post giving information about whether users are still entitled for the "buy C2, get first year of C3 for free" promotion. You said that there will be 2 releases for C3, now for early-adopters and a later one with marketing, etc. Which one of those releases stops the promotion I mentioned?

    there's one more "release" for Construct 3, which will be in around 6-8 weeks once we've gotten the manuals/some tutorials written up and start more broadly marketing Construct 3. As it stands the early adopter badge period will end around then.

    Btw what is the deadline for getting that early-adopter badge for C3? I'm waiting for the PayPal support, but I don't want to fall out of that category.

  • You don't need a trademark or company to release a game as an indie developer. To earn money from it is an other question. That may vary by country. Btw you game will be protected by copyright from the moment you create it.

  • It's planned but may take a few months to make it available - payment systems are very complex to set up and integrate. In the mean time we support Stripe.

    Btw, just a note: I'd strongly suggest to change the "Splash Screen" text to "Custom Splash Screen" on the Construct.net Pricing page since it might drive users into thinking that they'll be forced to use a C3 splash screen with every license.

    I completely understand your point. But in my opinion it saves you more time in the long run if you spend that 10 minutes to submit a bug.

  • As soon as you buy a license, you'll have the right to use your project commercially. I'm not sure about the current situation, since C3 is not yet available for sale.

  • What would you recommend to do the manual cordova build with?

    You should go with either PhoneGap or Cocoon.io.
