  • It usually a reverse domain. It is used to identify the folder whitch will hold the files of your application. It can be anything basically. The usual method is to start with "com", then followed by either the creator or the company name, then at the end there is the product name. See codah 's post for example.

  • I am pretty sure that all number variables are handled as floating point numbers. This can cause some strange things to happen if you're not ready for it.

That's true, but in these cases you can use the int() function to convert the number to an integer value.

  • I don't think it matters that much nowadays, but it would be neat to know for sure.

It does not. Nowadays developers don't have to pay that much attention to declaring the proper type of variables to save memory. You can save much more memory by cutting off the unnecessary transparent parts of the images your project uses.

  • Sounds great. I hope they will.

  • Thanks Jayjay for the kind words and tips!

I'm getting convinced that C2 is the program that is the most suited to create what I have in mind!

You'll get into it quickly. C2 provides easy and fast development. Also, welcome on the forums.

  • It would be nice to have some team collebroation method to allow 2 or more developers to work on a project simultaneously.

The dark GUI is not a must have. But it gives the eyes a break and it also gives a more professional look to the software.

So far all id like to suggest is naming it Construct 2 PRO and not C3. Feels more right in my opinion

That wouldn't be a smart decision in my opinion. That means that Scirra will have to maintain 2 editors simultaneously. One for the C2 and one for a C2 Pro users.

  • The C2 editor has reached it's limits. That's why C3 has to be made. To be able to run on linux, mac too and to include modularity, etc..

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • It should. You can test the controls with the gamepad object.

  • But to me Scirra would be better of, if they plan to release a new version, to stop adding new features and instead fix those that have already been added and is not working correctly. That way the current users wont feel like they are left with a broken C2, and are aware that Scirra is not going to add new features to it, but instead want to focus on a new version. That way they are a lot more secure that they maintain the loyalty of there current user base. And its a lot cheaper to maintain that, than having to get new customers to replace them.

But then new users won't buy C2 because they'll be waiting for C3 to come out. I think it's important to include new features (even if not so regularly as before). Personally I'm satisfied with C2 being what it is. I'm looking forward to C3, but I'm still using C2 and encourage others to do so.

  • Thank you for the answer.
