I'm lovin' that 3d'ish look in the masthead. The recent players is nice touch.

  • The trailers look good to me. The animation seems top notch so I'm really curious to see how this turns out. I think for me, my main interest is the production value it seems to show in the trailers. Everything else I really don't know. I've read some reviews and it's averaging 3/5 for most I've seen. I would imagine it's hard to capture the original styling of the hand drawn animations.

  • Asterix...I remember that one too.

The trailers have piqued my interested as I've personally taken an interest in Blender and delving a bit more into 3D.

I personally come from MMF2, and I've left it cause of its price. The software is already expensive (I talk about the Dev version), but if you want an exporter (iOS, Flash, and android/XNA/html5/etc. to come), you have to pay, again and again...

There is no HTML5 exporter for MMF2. From what I understand, they tried but it just wasn't something that was possible for them at the time.

I do agree, on a cost level, C2's current price is a gift. Nothing comes even close.

  • lol...

No Tin Tin fans out there? :D

Ok, ok, how about Rin Tin Tin?

    Or this

    Just sayin...

Agree limits are too high ... I'd rather go to use MMF2) Where by the way, the exporters in the open access allowed ...

    ?

MMF2 with logo is about $100 USD.

MMF2 Developer is over $300 USD.

    Construct2 is $32.

MMF2 has no HTML5 exporter. I understand they tried but didn't get close to what C2 has at this time, believe me I waited for over a year. I then started coding everything by hand then I found C2. And wow (queue the "Heaven's Opening Up" theme here), C2 even at it's beta was the best I found.

Anyway, not sure what you're going on about how MMF2 is better. Maybe for some things but definitely not for HTML5.

I hope you find a way to buy C2 as it is a bargain compared to what I've seen out there.

    Good luck!

  • Just to note - in Canada and the USA, this opens on December 21. I understand it had already been release out in the UK.

  • Aritz thanks for the post.

Originally I started with the basic of basics - MilkShape3D but that was so limiting. Lately, I've been looking at Blender. There are tons of free tutorials on it and the community is very active. The only caveat I can see is that it's definitely not as easy to learn as other 3d apps. It's very deep and it's got a ton of buttons ;)

01lifeleft, good luck with your 3D goals. Bastion looks like an awesome game!

It's good you guys recognize this -- that you currently have a finite amount of time and energy.

This also tells me that C2 is not going to be a half-baked app. I like the current focus and have never liked the idea of companies sitting on the fence about this stuff. If you sit on the fence, you get shot at both sides. Keep your focus on HTML5. Keep calm and carry on.

  • I'm not sure the location of the impression people were under when it somehow imbued them with the idea that there would be an exe exporter :D I have yet to find anyone at Scirra even saying it would be available either, so anything about an exe being made available at this point is heresay or heresy ;)

Before I purchased C2, I scoured the site to see if there was going to be an exe exporter as to me that would have been amazing. However, while there may have been discussions about it, nowhere did I find a definitive that said an exe exporter would be available.

Again, I would welcome an exe exporter, but I am personally not disappointed that it is not available or may never be available.

  • I think 2012 for HTML5 is going to be what 1993 was for Web. I think some really ground breaking work will be done using HTML5 in the mobile space and then things will just go crazy.
