OMG, in my country bread costs about 0.5$ or less.
Seriously, 2$?
Yeah, cheapest white bread here is $2 aswell. Normal grain breads more like $4 or $5 a loaf. (700g)
Thinking about this years ago i had the idea that software prices should be in multiples of 1kg of rice, since rice is a world staple food, and at least has slightly higher margin in higher income countries.
Since we're playing the devil's advocate, the counter argument is quite interesting and goes like this; Since i'm paying double or triple (in whatever currency) i should therefore be allowed to earn double or triple before upgrading. Therefore ?5000 (in Chinese currency for example) might be as much as $50,000 yuan, which is still equivalent to ?5000 worth of value when converted back into local currency.
(edit: adjusted yuan value)
