• I run Construct Classic and C2 on my iMac with VM Ware Fusion. The key commands are a little wonky, but with a little fiddling both of 'em work great!

  • Hey All,

I am working on a vert. scroller where the character floats up through the sky. I have strewn clouds all throughout the level, but by the time the character floats up to the higher clouds their bullet behaviours have caused them to move out of their correct positions.

I have tried setting events that only enable the bullet behavior if the character is within a certain distance of the cloud...but I can't seem to get it to work correctly. I think it's an error with "Picking" the right clouds to enable??

I've been having the same problem with destroying clouds that are below the character (for the sake of sys. resources)

    here's a CAP package

I hope that makes sense...if anybody has an idea, that'd be great.

    Thanks yinz.

this video is looking pretty great. Interesting visual style, solid audio, looks like a neat mechanic. If you're entry is like this, I am looking forward to it!

  • siron, but doing this would cause the entire layer to become transparent...

It would be helpful to use the System event for "is overlapping" and set:

Event: when the "roof" sprite and the "character" sprite are overlapping

    Action: "roof" sprite Opacity=30

...this way, only your roof is effected.

  • interesting concept, sortve a multi-dimensional breakout/pinball thing happening.

Seems pretty fun, though I have been encountering issues with the ball going off screen/disappearing, but then actions/audio continuing to trigger as if there is an invisible ball bouncing around... any ideas/had this before??

    Pretty rad though!

  • Great work so far, and I am definitely getting a Super Meat Boy vibe from both the level design (where you are forced to jump directly toward a face of spikes and land JUST in front of it) also the little particles (sweat??) coming from the character are somewhat reminiscent of MB's blood. (eh?)

I also think you've got a pretty interesting visual style going on, and while I do like the vignetteperhaps it ads to the difficultyit does obscure what seems to be some pretty dig-able visual work. Maybe let it breathe more? Just a thought.

    Nice work!

  • This is one of the more subtle uses of visuals as well as audio that I can recollect form C2 (at least so far )

Nice ambiance and nice style...the conservation of momentum from board to board was an especially interesting, as well as challenging element. Can't wait to see where you go with it!

  • Thanks Spacewarguy, I am really struggling with making it simple, but still interesting/worth looking at (lol), so I keep remaking the same little demo over and over w. different looks...trying to to find my own pixel/tech aesthetic...

I added a little movement to the reticle while shooting because it sorta reminded me of Mario Sunshine? And I thought by tapping J/K you could sorta "scrub" areas...or better bombard moving enemies.

Guess I should make some enemies/puzzles & see how that feels?

Did you try the "lock"? Did that work okay for you??

    Thx again.

  • Hey Guys,

I've been stuck in a rut working on my project, and I just thought I'd throw it up here to get some feedback on the shooting mechanic I've worked out, or any aspect of it really haha. None of my friends run Windows, so they can't play it, and I guess I just need some kind of feedback. Think it's cool, think it's crap? lemme know!

    check it out

    p.s.

the event sheets might give some people nightmares...it's not the neatest work-style

  • Hey thanks inkBot. I figured it was something like that, but I am still trying to read up on all the intricacies of files vs. resources vs. sounds, and getting everything to work smoothly.

I'll probably go with "baked in" approach, it's just simpler/cleaner...though there is something kinda cool about letting people have access to the sounds and things if they wanted to repurpose them, I dunno, I'll figure it out.

    thanks again!

  • Hey guys,

I am having an issue with getting my project to export with sound... If I put the .EXE file in the folder with my audio files, it works just fine...

Will I need to package/distribute my game in this way or am I missing something?
