  • "it's a hardware problem"

    I literally lol'd

  • actually, It was the layout I was trying to resize, my bad.

  • Just got this crash bug when trying to resize a new project. Not sure if it matters but I had setup the project as a .CAPX file rather than a project folder.

  • Hmmm...seems like all these links take me back to the forum post page?? A bummer too, cause I was interested in your all-sounds game!

  • Hey Constructors, I just noticed that if I make another post, I'll push my rep to 800! w00t. I am a graphic designer, I live in Pittsburgh, so far I've made Carl & WarpRiders. Both are works in progress. I find almost everything interesting and I am always down to shoot the sh*tif I am in the IRC chat, hit me up!

  • While, I am inclined to say "game-play uber alles", I am more with Smitchell? your game doesn't need to be realistic or beautifully rendered, but it does need a strong, cohesive STYLE, and looks are a part of that, your user interfaces with the appearance before they ever get to the puzzles.

But style applies to more than just looks.

gameplay style (difficulty, "genre", mechanics, perma-death)

visual style (8-bit, photo realism, cel-shaded etc.)

    audio style (bit-crush, orchestral, ambient)

narrative style (text boxes, NPC's, omniscient narration, cutscenes)

It's not one or the other...all these (and more that I probably don't even know myself yet) are necessary, you just need to balance them for the games you want to make to control the experience. It's like a 4-way yin-yang...like a gameplay orgy 4-some where you determine who's on top. lulz.

  • Yes, seems to be working just fine now!

    Nice job!

  • Try Construct 3

  • At work right now :/ but I can check in the evening for sure!

  • Ashley, yes, I've been looking into the firewall settings for MacOSX, it seems I may just need to grant permission to my VM software..though, for some reason, I doubt it will be that simple <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I'll give it a shot when I got home from work and see how it turns out.

  • Just wondering if anybody who runs Windows in a virtual machine has been able to get the Preview on LAN working for them? I've followed the tut., but I am still having troubles, I am assuming the virtualization has something to do with it?

    Any ideas?

  • hmm, just got it again. seems to be happening each time I try to add a new event/sub-event?

  • Received this shortly after installing r80, created a new group and this popped up.

    ---------------------------

    Construct 2 Check failure

    ---------------------------

Check failure! This is probably a bug:

Getting event sequence number from event without one assigned

    Condition: sequence_number != 0

    File: Projects\Event.cpp

    Line: 30

Function: unsigned int __cdecl Event::GetEventSequenceNumber(void) const

    Build: release 80 (64-bit) checked

    Component: Construct 2 IDE

    (Last Win32 error: 0)

You are using a 'checked' release of Construct 2, intended for testing, which causes certain errors to be reported this way. Hit Ctrl+C to copy this messagebox - it's useful information for the developers, so please include it with any bug reports! Click 'Abort' to quit (unsaved data will be lost!),'Retry' to turn off messages for this session and continue, or 'Ignore' to continue normally.
