  • Yup that did the trick! Thanks!

Also, might as well use the same topic to ask another question:

So, i managed to get the "X" movement (X is in quotes because, well, it doesn't really lock to X) now i'm trying to implement gravity and stuff, and it doesn't seem to be working all that well, the gravity seems to work all right, but i can't seem to get the character to jump, when i press the key (with debug on) the values seem to change for a fraction of a second and than go back to 0... I'm pretty sure this is some kind of basic mistake, and i'm just too stupid to figure it out on my own... So... Help, please?

  • Cool, thanks man!

  • I've been working on this one engine, and well, whenever i try to run it, it crashes! So i tried and exausted every possibility to solve the glitch, and i did manage to figure out what was causing the crashes.... That one group of events that happens to be crucial for the engine's working -.-

Sooo... I think the best way to solve this is to have someone more intelligent/experient than me (Read: Anyone) look at my .cap file and tell me what is wrong...

  • Great! Works perfect, thanks!

  • So... I've been trying to program a Sonic the Hedgehog style 360 momentum physics engine... As you may or may not know, this involves quite a bit of complex math equations and trigonometry...

Anyway, what i'm trying to do is limit the amount of decimal digits on a certain value (For instance, if the value is 1.4039034523; It becomes 1.404 instead) But as far as i know, construct's "Round" function rounds the number up to... Well, a round number... So how do i do this?

  • Thanks! *downloading tutorials*

  • Well... What i wanna do is a perspective 3d-ish distortion thing, much like this image:

    <img src="http://www.wikicheats.com/images/e/ef/Final_Fantasy_VI_Intro.jpg">

Is it even possible with construct?

  • [quote:2lajyk0s]What?? MMF gives lag with certain effects?

this is a serious thing, since, let's say, I could be far away on the project later to discover that, with the hero on screen together with his armor and weapons sprites, while fighting against some 10 enemys (with theirs respectives clothes and weapons) + lots of effects would cause great lags on mmf.

So, for a game of this kind, MMF would sure lag? a serious or light lag? on construct there is no problem (or almost no problem) of lag?

Yes, it lags! I mean, with just a basic game, wich at most uses parallax (scrolling) and maybe some alpha blending will do fine! (as long as your PC does not suck) The lag isn't MAJOR but it's existent and VERY noticeable when in foll screen!

Construct has less lag cuz' it's rendered on DX9 while MMF uses GDI!

If you have LOTS of effects... Either change to construct or have an option to turn them off (i can teach you to do that!)

    What language is that *runz*

  • [quote:37hua4u6]Bah, tu ? brazileiro tch?, hahaha

Darn universal translator is on the fritz again. It worked for Daimonmau's first post. Anyone know of a good repair center, since it is out of warranty?

  • Will do... In fact, construct is superior when making plataformers! MMF's standard plataform behaviour is VERY glitchy... So you'd have to make one yourself (from scratch)! Construct on the other hand has a great plataform behaviour, wich has little to no glitches....

About the pixel shader: It adds cool effects (shading, blur, screen distortion, etc.) but it also takes a better computer to render it! So if you're making a game that goes for a more "retro-style" thing then they will be useless...

  • Well, from what i can get you wanna make a zelda-styled game right?

If so, then construct is awesome! I've been using it for some time (and i've also used MMF2 before) and both can make this kind of game... Except construct is cooler because 1. It's free, so you don't have to pirate it! 2. It has special effects with pixel shader and stuff, your game looks less "retro"

  • You don't get it.... I want ALL the objects on layer one to COMPLETELY ignore the objects on layer two!

You see... It's a plataforming game... (and it uses the plataform behaviour)

And i wanna be able to jump into the background/back to the foreground in certain areas (a pseudo-3D gimmick, kinda like VB wario land)
