  • Looking to budget for future expenses. Has C2 deiced on pricing?

    Will it include an Android exporter? If not what is the cost of that?

    Thanks

  • So you guess it's okay? Something feels completely wrong with this. What testers are doing for you does a lot more for you than it does for them. They mess around with an unfinished product, while it helps you make money.

    I could not agree more and am getting a very bad feeling about Construct 2. I have no problem with buying finished software and was think this might be one worth purchasing, but some things are starting to feel very controlled:

    Like yearly licensing, alpha timed releases, and pay schedules for alpha versions (not even beta).

    With so may free finished languages out there I am afraid all this talk will scare away the base that is already formed.

    Even so pricing seems high at this early stage, There is a lot of bashing here about Game Maker, but they make a lot of money. $25 per version and free updates as quite attractive.

    I would sincerely look at your business model again. But with all this talk about pay to test I am thinking about dropping back to C1 and other game creation software.

    Best of luck with your endveor on C2!

    I think the test builds should not be for commercial use - testing purposes only. I think it's fair if you sell a game, you buy a license first.

    I totally agree!

    But you need to respect the testers too. Charging at this point makes Construct2 look greedy. Especially for non commercial projects. Many of us will never sell a single program we make then for fun.

  • Nice to see someone is still supporting flash after all the pounding that Apple is giving it.

    Flash is still very cool in my book.

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

    Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I know i might get negative feedback for this comment but in my opinion Unity is on another level compared to Construct.

    Which is why I posed earlier that is has more competition with Blender.

  • Or let him program with boxes of the correct size for the the art work. You independently do the art by yourself and near the end just drop in your quality art

  • I thought that every integer (even greater than 5) can be written as the sum of two primes.

    ex:

    10 = 7 + 3 or 5 + 5

    12 = 5 + 7

    14 = 3 + 11 or 7 + 7

    52 = 5 + 47

  • *Sigh* It was a joke.

    But if some one did make your suggested ACE type editor for Unity it would be.

  • If someone ever made an Construct ACE type editor for Unity then that would be something to get truly excited about.

    So what you are saying is that Construct could be competitor for the Unity addon?

    The circle (for this thread) is complete Obi-Wan

  • Why not split the behaviors up some? Like instead of a single platform behavior have the movements as separate behaviors like platform move left / right, or platform jump, platform double jump, platform super jump, etc.

    That way you could build up a nice selection, and mix and match. That is if you can get the behaviors to "play nice with each other", unlike physics, etc.

    Should be much easier to debug as well.

    Who's up for a interpolated movement?

    The ability to get "play nice with each other" is the key comment. If you can do that great, but many times in Construct did Physics toss in a curve ball.

    I like behaviors, They make prototyping, and simple games easy to create. Then again I am not pro nor a high end user. ...which may be a point to add behaviors.

  • Hm, this feature that is critical for beginners is only available as a paid asset. I'm not too keen on spending money to try something out.

    I am not knocking the program but the four demo video's just color and move boxes. That is not very inspiring. Construct 2 at least gave you Gohst Hunter wish is amazing at its early state.

    This program looks like it will compete with Blender (which has a rich python scripting language. Since Blender is free, has much better video demo's, user base, and tutorials. I think Playmaker may have an uphill battle a head especially with Mipey comment about pay to even try.

    Then enjoy Game Maker and forget Construct exists, I guess. Take a look at it again when it's "finished."

    Genesys has a reasonable statement.

    buddy40 - This type of response that drives people away from Construct.

  • In a past post Ashley pointed out that Game Maker had a bigger user base support and noted that Game Maker must be going something that Construct isn't.

    I do not mind paying for a program and in fact I like to to see improvements and continued existence of them. I am a very small time user and it looks like the 39 / $63.48 (2 years) may be a little high compared to the Game Maker 8's Pro Edition for $25/ version price. Game maker is then free to uses with all updates until the next major version is release.

    So with the current Construct 2 model it looks like you get only a partial product that costs more money. Combine that with all the other free game engines and the full featured Game Maker I am afraid you may not not only scare off new users but lose some of your current base.

    My advice is look at what other similar programs are charging and price accordingly. Charging now at half the price until Construct 2 is competitive.
