  • Is it possible to use advance camera on seperate layers to generate a 3d movement effect such as in 2D animations? than in advance

    Parallax? You don't need it for that, just change the scroll speed of your layers.

    There's a Left 2 Dead game out there somewhere (probably a few), based on Left 4 Dead only 2D, hence it's name, saw one just the other day, wasn't easy either.. dammit.

  • I'd thought to try that, but there are vertical sections that when the invisible barrier comes up, suddenly limit the players ability to jump. I want to player to be able to jump normally once the camera zone has changed and not suddenly have an invisible ceiling. That definitely works for horizontal sections though.

    private variable controlling the players ability to jump or not, switch it on to disable jumping, off to allow it, or something along those lines?

    I don't think I could name any. Unless I've seen loads and never realized, since peoples idea of what an RPG is differs quite a bit.

  • So I'm redoing a stage from Megaman II to test out my platforms and player control using a level I'm familiar with. I'm using the advanced camera plugin, but I want to set it so that when I transition from one camera zone, to another, the player can't go back. I tried destroying each zone as a transition is made, but it didn't work, perhaps I was trying to destroy it the wrong way. Any ideas?

    Make an invisible solid and put it in the way so the player can't go back at all?

    Why would you say that?

    Anyway Ash has said that the event system will still be there, it's just that events will create an .xml file. Think Dreamweaver... you are using a GUI to make an .html file... which you could also code by hand if you wanted to. Same thing. It shouldn't be obligatory at all.

    Just to clarify, this is something planned for Construct 2.

    Which very likely wont be ready in a real, usable form for quite a long time. So anyone thinking of waiting until then might just wanna get used to the current version and find workarounds.

  • People will switch to v1 when it's ready, with luck. The majority though are waiting on v1. So really it wont be a problem when the time comes.
