    You weren't kidding!

Yep and Construct GUI look's similar to MMF, I felt it similar to MMF the first time I opened it and still think of it like MMF especially event editor GUI look's more or less to MMF, anyway those 3 game's were fun imo but they should do more, I still doubt it will be as good as Construct in 2D tough but it's pretty early to tell, I do like the feature to create game's that work on web tough, I hope it will also be possible to export them as .swf but Stencyl isn't the only one that can make game's online MMF2 can export .swf file's as well with the new flash plug-in, I am not a fan of making game's online tough.

  • That warning is fake, you can safely ignore it as there is no virus on the forums, silent walk is an fps game creator, not as good as retribution engine imo.

I just found some new ones

Reality Factory = A basic 3D game making program, comes with many programs to develop content for it, they are working on RF2 but nothing is much known about it yet.

Ray Game Designer 2 = A very early 3D game making tool, very unsupported and it's an early beta too, abandoned long ago so what you get is a very early build of it, the author used it to create Turbo Lode and Pumpy game's himself.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • These are 2 3D game creating programs that I know of and not everybody know's about them and I'l share them on this forum for those who are interested.

Plutonium3D - It is said that this program will be like Game Maker or Construct but maintains focus on 3D, I don't know if it's still being worked on or not tough oh and btw there is no public release/beta of it yet but it was started quite recently.

    P3D Concept

Retribution Engine - Similar to P3D but made for FPS game's only, the quality is similar to Quake 2 or Half Life 1 but it feature's many possibilities of single player FPS game's and making levels with trigger's to make easy cutscene's, this program is final and the author no longer support's it, the last version has been released last year and there will be no update's on it anymore, I have tried this program and it is very easy to create fun FPS game's with it, no multiplayer support tough, it was going to have it at one point but it was abandoned.

  • True, I have never seen a good game done with DB even Game Maker has some fun (altough 2D) game's that match up like "an untitled story" hard hat series and so on, may I mention my Zonik series XD can be found on caiman but alas Guyon is somewhat right, there are many engines out there and all have their up's and down's, right now I have no plan for a 3D game but I do think Construct is atleast capable of making "mode7" game's for like minigames and bonuses, I believe I saw this somewhere but forgot where, oh well I have started creating a 2D game right now with Construct and I am not planning to do 3D anytime soon tough.

    Example of Mode7

As for modeling I did some (and very bad) 3D models before, they sucked and are forgotten, they were md3 (Quake 3 format) I knew the basics like animating but other then that I am no 3D modeler so my model's won't be top quality.

  • Very impressive with the 3D design and all, what did you use to create the animation? 3D max? Maya or all is made with Construct?

  • I never tried Unity3D and I heard it's the easiest 3D game designing program out there, how easy is it? do I still have to know general/intermediate knowledge of coding? how easy is it compared to darkbasic or blitzbasic? true it might be easy for people who already know a bit of programming for a total beginner or a person who know's nothing I believe Unity3D is still inaccessible for him.

  • That's true but I hope one day maybe in Construct 2 it will be able to create a 3D side scroller/platformer like Megaman X7/8, it's already possible using 3D box and using sprites within a 3D layer but it's very limited as of yet, I can see this as a possible future for Construct that 3D box could be improved and not forgotten, I am not saying to scrap 2D altogether tough but 3D isn't as bad as many people make it seem.

  • > No. They use whatever cheap version they find at the computer shop or their old gamepad from 5 years ago.

    >

Perhaps but I've seen statistics from 2009 that suggests otherwise. It doesn't matter though, I am not saying there shouldn't be support for them ... it's a matter of priority. There are plenty of things that should be improved or added first, or at least the plugin should be handled by someone externally so that Ashley/David can focus on bigger things!

On a side note, I am going to say nothing of joysticks

    > 6fix - I must have misunderstood you then. I thought you meant that as though C2 is supposed to not be meant as mainly a 2D program. Sorry about that.

    >

No problem! Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I don't even want a fully 3D construct. I hope we never lose 2D, on any platform.

There are some game's that won't work in complete 2D, I don't know and I even doubt that Construct will create a third person shooter like the famous Tomb Raider series but I hope it will atleast create a 2D 3D platformer like Megaman X7/8

  • Include 1 more-

Construct till now can't export swf or java files.

And will probably never happen, not now and neither for Construct 2 as it will I believe it would require a complete rewrite to add support for flash of java.

  • There isn't, there is only pause and resume music, is pause like stop or it stops the music completely for another to load?

  • Oh alright, that's what I wanted to know, thanks alot Porlo

Another small problem I got into right now is the music trough layout's, I have a global Xaudio2 object and that play's the music at the menu and in the next layout there's a cutscene and I want the menu music stopped at that scene and after. (it should only play at the menu)

I am currently searching to forums for this and my version of Construct is 0.99.84.

  • Must I require to have the music avaliable with the game files for everyone to take and not importing it into Construct and save's it in the .cap itself? perhaps with the sounds too? can I make it so that the music and sfx to be in the .cap file itself and you do not need to put in in a folder?

I don't know how to explain it better tough but it's like game modding, where game's have resources in folder for anyone to replace and steal, I don't want it like that so how can I make it so that the file's can not be seen from other people as in saved in the .cap file itself?

Hope you get what I'm saying tough, I really need to know this.

_< I forgot to mention when I make it into an .exe file, must I also put the music and sound files with the .exe file or are they saved into the .exe file itself? I want to do so for both sound and music.
